Hello Pam. We have just been going through some of your video's, mostly on Petunias, and so far are impressed. We grow mostly veg and have been buying flowers at local nursery's. However due to the cost of Petunia's around here, $4-6/ plant, and a strange experience we had last year, we've decided to try and grow our own. The experience, couple dozen plants decided to volunteer to grow in our paver patio drain track along one side of our patio, 16' across from 2 hanging baskets we had. That's my kind of gardening. Hang the plant, enjoy the flowers, when bloom dies the seed sneaks off, plants itself and thrives without any watering or feeding regimes. Anyway, we bought some seeds, 3 different colors, 35 out of 36 germinated in 5 days. Now, at what point do you start using the Rev 4, and fertilizer. The plants are in 72 place trays, under lights, on a heat mat, with 2 of the tiniest leaves I've ever seen. Thanks in advance with any advice. Mark n Rose Maine

I use the REV right away but I hold off on any fertilizer until they have 2 sets of leaves. And even then I use the fertilizer at 1/4 strength. Let me know how it goes. I am about to start my petunias seeds this week. We are to get 3 feet of snow so it is a good time to keep busy in the greenhouse and inside.

Hi Pam Thank you for another great video I always I’m lazy gardener lol Easy is better. I just watched different video of yours about petunias QUESTION This is my first year using my heat mat. How long do you leave the heat mat on? (Daily daily and over over all) I think you said on temp 70-75
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse9 ай бұрын
Mine is on the timer with the lights so the heat mat is on during the day for about 12 hours then off for 12. I am sure many would say that having it on 24 hours would be best, but I am bad about following rules. Once they germinate they come off the heat mat entirely.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Ok Great thank you Yeah I’ve heard some people leave their heat mat on 24 hours not sure I feel real comfortable with that just start out lol Really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question so quickly

I've been trying to grow petunias for a few weeks already but not luck. I tried American Meadows and Livingston. I have buy different seeds from them before without any issues but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with my petunias. I did everything you did in your video. I'll order some from selected seeds and botanical gardens as you suggested. Hoping for the best!

Are you surface sowing and letting them get light? How frustrating. I want to get the dollar store ones and give them a try too. I thought I had picked some up the other day and when I went through my purchases I didn't see them.

I always enjoyed you on Facebook but never checked out your youtube channel. I am starting some Petunias in my Aero garden and will keep transplanting them so I can have several to put in my garden containers. First time doing this. I want to do this with geraniums too. Really excited trying all of this. I also want to do sweet pea vines for on of my garden arches. I subscribed to your channel and look forward to learning more. Thank you.

Wonderful and welcome. I share all my garden adventures, failures and successes. I have never tried an Aero Garden, I should look into it. I love my Sweet Peas, I go more for the ones that are more highly scented than the cutting versions but they are all gorgeous to view.

I had thought to cut that out then didn't. We have bears that like to break into my garden house and I thought for sure it was one of them, for a moment.

Hi,great video , I’m going to try to germinate petunias and geraniums. Where to you live in the US. Zone please? We live in Southern Ontario

I am in zone 8 a in the mountains. My last frost date is the 3rd weekend in May. Have fun growing petunias and geraniums from seed. They are two of my favorites and are a lot easier than you would think.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse ok thankyou,we are similar. When do you begin germinating your seeds?
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Жыл бұрын
@@adamsons2890 Many times I have already started but I am waiting this year as we are traveling a lot more. Both Geraniums and Petunias take their sweet time to bloom so that is why I start early. But our night time temps stay cool till July so that could slow mine down too.

Thanks for the reply. I think I’ll try to get some at the Home Depot this weekend. I looked on Amazon but I haven’t a clue what to get. I should have collected them last year.
