I thought I bought triloba seeds but got a bonus of triloba Prairie Glow. I’m in love! So pretty paired with zinnias and solidago.

Late summer I love using obedient plant as a filler and our perennial ageratum, Mistflower. Both are wonderful and reliable perennials.

Oh my… I have to start triloba again just NOW for fall. This spring slugs just ate all my baby plants of it 🙈

Oh, no! I guess the slugs like 'Triloba', too - although they have a different way of showing it 😂 Good luck with another round of plants, and have a fantastic day! 💚🤗💚

Triloba does great in my NH Z4b garden. It’s a tough plant that comes back every year in even the most neglected weed overgrown patch. Triloba was in my landscape garden 15+ years ago when I bought the house and comes back strong every year without any help from me. It transplants well if it it pops up somewhere I don’t want it. I don’t consider it invasive at all. The blooms stay tidy for a long time into the fall. In my zone it acts more like a perennial. I tried to start the rust color version from seed, but so far no success (prairie glow). If anyone has had success with Prairie Glow I’d love to hear about it.

Great to know! Now I can reference that we know people in zone 4b who successfully grow 'Triloba' as a perennial ☺ Thanks so much for sharing all this helpful information, and have a wonderful day! 🤗

I need tips on how to get this plant to grow from seed. I have tried direct sowing and in plug trays with no success. Last fall I just threw some seeds out like the plant would do if it were reseeding itself and still had nothing grow. It’s weird!

Some Rudebeckia benefit from a cold stratification. You could try refrigerating your seeds a few weeks before planting.

Perhaps we need to do an episode on tricky seeds to germinate! Meanwhile, have you tried putting the seeds in the freezer for two weeks prior to sowing? In episode 49, we discussed how (and why) to freeze seeds and the importance of using desiccants when doing so. That may help to improve germination! Surface-sown seeds can be a bit more challenging in general, though. As I mentioned, perhaps we will do an entire episode on this topic. Thanks so much for watching, best of luck with your seeds, and have a lovely day! 💚🤗💚

Yes I put them in the freezer with all my "Cool Flower" seeds. It's really weird.....Rudbeckia and Crespedia are the two things I can't get to germinate.@@LayneAngeloTGW
