I am a huge fan of Praan saheb. He is the real inspiration to billions of others who wished to play a negative role on screen. The irony of this legend was he is the most humble person in real life and this interview itself is an evidence to it. Pran Sahab said that the hero needs a villain in the story to beat, to demonstrate his heroism. When people hated him in public life, he took it that they were complimenting his work. With such high compliments, and being the first choice for playing the villain in his era, why would he want to be a hero, especially since he felt he would not be good at song and dance as a hero. And he did do some songs and dances as a character actor which were required by the storyline. Pran Sahab could very well have asked the interviewer that are you a bad guy in real life because you think of these questions? No, a villain will do what his job requires, like a investigative interviewer will do what his job requires.

Pran has a very deep understanding of the role of the actor -how to transfer real life onto reel life and it is self-evident that a hero cannot shine so brightly unless his polar opposite, the villain exists. Therefore, if the villain is portrayed in the worst possible image, the lure of the hero is magnified manifold and that is what makes the movie watchable as the audience latch onto the hero to empathise and sympathise with him against the wretched villain.The interviewer clearly failed to understand that grand concept and the interview went completely off tangent. Pran remained graceful and dignified and saved the day for the anchor.
