Our principal, Dr Abdallah Rothman, kicks off Ramadan Live with Midday Meditations, reflecting on the signs in nature that point to our own Fitrah.
Ramadan, a time when we are more connected to natural and celestial cycles, is an ideal time for doing the inner work on our souls.
And so, we should sow the seeds of good intention as we enter this blessed month.
---
This Ramadan, as we reopen our doors, sow a seed 🌱 with Cambridge Muslim College, to help us train the next generation of Muslim thinkers.

Maa Sha Allah. Thank you CMC for bringing us back together, quite literally, for another Ramadan month of reflection, prayer and realignment Inshaa'Llah. The theme of Sowing Seeds could not be more perfect as it is nature, and God's creation that has helped so many of us through this past year. May we all prepare the ground with care and love and may all of you at CMC and all participating have a blessed Ramadan.

I am loving the linguistic skills. I do find it ironic when we are talking about how Ramadan and connecting to celestial cycles whilst recent studies suggest the luni-solar calendar has been around since the time of the prophet, that the names of the month highlight the season it falls in and how Ramadan is found to be around the equinox uniting the entire world on a 12 hour day for an entire month. See: when is Ramadan?

jazakallah khair for an excellent and important video. I recharge myself by immersing in nature and ALLAH'S creations. Every year I thank HIM for the daffodils and snowdrops that emerge in spring regardless of the weather. I am in awe of the tireless work of birds this time of year finding mates, building nests. I am humbled by the daily struggle of existence of the smallest of creatures. All this reminds me that all is Islam, it obeys ALLAH without question, all is a perfect system. Walking within nature is a constant reminder and a chance to realign oneself with ALLAH and our responsibility and place within it.

So inspiring to have the meditations out in nature. The Messenger of Allah heard the stones in his hand praising and glorifying Allah. May He Most High open our hearts to not only hear all that is in the heavens and the earth glorify and praise Him, but to also allow our hearts to do the same as a reflection of His creation. Thank You for bringing this to our attention.

I agree with everything said in this video. It is why I think you should not build on that wooded plot and seek another solution. You would be better growing more food on it, increasing diversity and going for good soil development. In urban spaces those little gardens are sacred and rare, don't destroy it.

Spending time in Nature is a very important Sunnah. One cannot rightly contemplate God in front of a screen with artificial light. Muslims - let's get out and see the creation of God (as long as we still have it). There's cities with no trees and no direct sunlight nowadays, where sickness of the body, mind and soul prevail. Let us not take for granted this Ni'amat.

Assalamu alaykum, thank you for reminding us through these very brief lectures, of who we are as human beings. We are from earth (nature) and to earth we go back. Staying connected with nature, helps us indeed to preserve our fitrah. The Quran, mashaa'Allah is so full of verses that incite us to contemplate nature so that we don't deviate from the core of our existence, which is venerating Allah SWT. Our Ibadah aligns with the cosmos. We fast to the sight of the moon, we finish fasting when the moon finishes the whole cycle. Our prayers are bound by the daily cycle of the sun. These are just few examples that keep us connected to nature so that we can preserve our humanity. Barak Allahu Feekum for these valuable Midday Moments. I wish we could have them everyday like we had Midnight Moments last Ramadan. Would you please reference the verses used in the videos. that would make it easier to do more research on their explanation? Ramadan Kareem :)
