Some background introduction: The one started singing is father. He died 30 years ago, now the son is actually older than father when he died. The son is chieftain of the tribe. He was frustrated of what to do for the future of the tribe. So when the father appeared (in his mind), the son can't wait to tell him his frustration, asking for advice. The father, who was also a chieftain, said: You haven't sung the song of tribe for a long time. So he started singing, and the son followed. From singing the tribe song with father, the son learnt how to face the difficulties, and decided what to do next.

This song is beautiful beyond words. I actually first began learning more about the Aboriginal Taiwanese people after being exposed to their music, in particular a piece called, "Elders Drinking Song," if I remember the title correctly. I even tracked down a copy of this movie from my budded interest in their culture. I also developed an interest in the Maori culture. Speaking of which, if you have any interest in the Maori, a movie I highly recommend is called, "The Dead Lands." It's pretty gory at times, but the acting from the secondary protagonist as well as the illustration of their past warrior culture is also fascinating.

For anyone curious, the background story is talking about the fallen of native tribal. In 1930 Taiwan island, the Japan Imperial army conquer here and started modernization and convertion of local culture, most of the native have converted to Japan culture while some other was persisted but force to slavery. And the chieftain(guy in this video) was force to witness their culture fall and struggle to choose between survive but converted, or death with honor

Tovika Zhimomi The Seediq (賽德克族) and other Taiwanese aborigines (台灣原住民) like the Atayal (泰雅族), Amis (阿美族), Thao (邵族), Bunung (布農族), Paiwan (排灣族), Saisiyat (賽夏族), Kavalan (葛瑪蘭族) etc. are all actually Austronesian speakers, and the island of Taiwan has long been recognised as the homeland (urheimat) of all Austronesian languages worldwide since it has by far the greatest diversity of Austronesian languages in the world, all other Austronesian languages outside of Taiwan belong to the Malayo-Polynesian branch of the Austronesian language family. Other Austronesian speaking peoples includes the Indonesians, Malays, Filipinos, Hawaiians, Fijians, Pacific Islanders, Maori (of New Zealand), Malagasy (of Madagascar) etc. The Naga of Northeast India along with the Manipuri and most other tribes in northeastern India are actually all Sino-Tibetan speakers instead which makes them ethnolinguistic close relatives of the Chinese, Tibetans and Burmese (Myanmar) instead, not the Austronesians. Taiwan is mostly populated by Chinese people today but they arrived in Taiwan and colonised the island only relatively late in history. Most Chinese people on Taiwan are originally from southern Fujian province in China. I happen to know one Austronesian language (Malay) and a few Sino-Tibetan languages (all dialects of Chinese). By comparing your language (Naga) to these languages it should be clear that Naga is closer to Chinese. 1-10 in Malay: satu dua tiga empat lima enam tujuh lapan sembilan sepuluh 1-10 in Cantonese Chinese: yat yee sam sei ng lok chat baat gao sip 1-10 in Mandarin Chinese: yi er san si wu liu qi ba jiu shi 1-10 in Southern Min Chinese: jit li sa si ngoo lak chhit bwe gao tsap

@@YummYakitori people saying we are close to the Chinese or that we came from China is a mere speculation based on our looks and the fact that China is one of the closest place where the expansion caused a lot of migration of tribes around that area. However we, the Nagas have more in resemblance to the people of Borneo and other tribes elsewhere rather than any ethnic origin coming from China. The culture and other aspects like the pattern in weaving, tattooing etc. I just want people to stop saying we came from China as if they are so sure. No one knows
