Oh my goodness, the juggling of seed trays under lights......the struggle is real! My husband is already questioning all the winter sowing jugs I have outside. And he hasn't even seen what I have going on upstairs with lights and heat mats. Shhhh, don't tell 🤫

For hardy geraniums, I had success with the Ziplock method. Moisten a paper towel, folded into a Ziplock bag, place the seeds on the paper towel in the bag, close the bag. Put the bag in the fridge for 4 weeks, then bring it out. Check every week or so. Pull out sprouted seeds with tweezers and pot them up into potting mix. They take some time to germinate. Good luck.

Petunias will be just fine outside with our 2-week forecast. They really like the cool weather. In my experience, With full-spectrum LED lights, hardening off is easy and quick as they adapt to the full sunlight much faster. A bit of shade cloth draped over the top and removed for progressively longer each day makes it easy to harden off so you don’t have to bring them in and out each day. ❤

I really appreciate update videos! It’s so nice to see how well things are faring, and especially if they’re not. It helps us to learn. Because of these videos, and that you’re in Texas, I’m starting way more flowers than I ever have this year. Thank you for all of your teaching. It’s been a fun seed season with you! 😃

I’m interested in seeing how your Dahlias survive the Texas heat. I’ve tired growing Dahlias from tubers last year and it didn’t go so well. I’m in Texas zone 8B. I’m growing dahlias from seed and trying the tubers again since they survived the winter. I’ve started some tubers indoors in a sunny room and they are sprouting. Will plant out in containers after the last frost date. I will then move them to a shady location once the miserable 100 plus heat sets in and move them back in full sun in the fall. Hoping they will flower by June. Wish me luck!

I’ve failed with tubers for several years which is why I tried them from seed this year. I plan on planting them in grow bags, so I can move them around for morning sun and afternoon shade.

Hi, I live in Texas now zone nine, was 8B. Last year I seeded my own petunias, and I am amazed to see that they overwintered. I have some in a pot that are even lush green and about to put out blooms. I think your petunias will do fine if you get them in the ground now.

Everything is looking good, a few failures but very few!! Really appreciate the seedling videos now, I've been gardening for decades but brand new to seed starting. The increase in cost of annuals/perennials the past couple of yrs has thrown a wrench in my quantities and selection. So far I've been trying to grow w/o lights in a corner bright light window but my starts are pretty leggy. For my next batch of seeds I'm going to order some lights. Your videos are really helpful Amanda, thank you!!!

I am still learning with a lot of seeds, but i did get 100% germination on tuberous begonia and big begonia seeds from swallowtail. I used a pretty damp seed starting mix, surface sowed, humidity some, and a heat mat with a temperature sensor set to 80 Fahrenheit. (Per instructions from swallowtail) i think that begonia seeds like a fairly damp, humid environment for germination.

None of my Tuberous begonias germinated! And it's too late to start more by now. It was pelleted so I should have sprayed them I guess. I had simular experience the first year with them , 1 germinated, the next year I think I sprayed with a bottle and had a ton. Luckily I potted them all up at the end of the season to bring inside!

I have delphinium that have been under lights for 12 days and there's nothing yet. I thought they needed heat but as I kept checking, a lot of places said they don't need heat. They've been off the heat for about 5 days, do you think they'll germinate? I had good luck with my dianthus and although I had good germination with my scabiosa, some of the seed heads wouldn't come off, so I pulled them and put new seeds in the cells. They look like they're going to sprout any day. I clearly started my ranunculus too soon, so I'm trying to keep them healthy until maybe March 1st and if I have to cover them outside I will. That'll be about 6 weeks from my last frost. Wish me luck!! I'm going to run out of pots if these all need potting up. I guess that's a good thing for a gardener, right?

For delphinium, I put mine through cold stratification first before sowing which helps a lot.
