We've been with them for almost 3 years, through a pregnancy and birth, and have had nothing but great experiences. Honestly Christ Care Ministry (Medi-Share) has been a massive blessing, I truly don't know how we would afford coverage if not for them. I have an Aunt and Uncle that have been with them for 20+ years and only have good things to say as well.

We have been medi-share members since 2016. $12k ahp. Our experience has been exactly like you guys described. It started with worry if this is a legit business, then to the wierd looks at the doctor office front counter, then to use it and go thru the process it is actually works great. Medi-share is legit an we support their efforts. On the comment you mentioned sometimes it's easier to tell doctor office you are cash pay customer. That we have found to be crazy huge savings. The whole medical pricing industry is so shady. We have learned it is ok to ask prices before going to doctor, except emergency obviously, and to shop around.

100% agreed about the medical industry and their pricing - it is really unfortunate because so many are hurt by the way they handle things

So is that the right way to tell a provider who has no clue what Medi-Share is, that you're self pay (i.e. just give me the bill)? I guess every provider is different but curious if telling them you're "self pay" or a "Cash pay customer" will suffice? In case you couldn't tell it's engrained in me to just comply and pay what conventional insurance has told me to pay :) but excited about potential of joining Medi-Share.

@@jeremewright6962 As a member you do get an actual "insurance" looking card with the certain types of numbers they would need for submitting claims. However, I usually don't bother with it. So yes, I just call to make my doctor appt, and then ask if they have discounts for self pay or cash pay customers that don't have insurance. Then the appointment maker person sometimes doesn't know, so then you ask for the billing department. If you can get that person on the phone or in person, then that is who always knows exactly what you mean and will be your best resource. Sounds like a lot of work? Ok, maybe. I have a many of examples doing this quick excercise saved us a ton of money. One Example: Setup appt with allergist. Asked on cash pay over phone. They said price was $900 for the testing. Self pay would be 40% discount. "Same day" self pay was extra 25% off (so 65% discount total). Then came the actual appt. I had to remind them I was paying that day, twice. After testing was done, paid up and the total was $245 all in. I know, the math doesn't work. Never does, but I saved a bundle being my own advocate. So say this strategy goes south on you. No big deal, then you can bust out the insurance card after the fact and have them do the normal billing process.

@@tomlauhon2240 Thanks a bunch for the info. That's what I figured and how it'll go. Slightly nervous about making the switch but I know it's the right thing to do. Currently paying about 900 per month for family insurance - that's not counting the employer subsidy (another 350). It's crazy. Anyways, thank you for these details! These are INCREDIBLY helpful as my wife and I prepare for the switch.

Ask them how they deal with medical bills out of the country and you’ll get a vague answer. I wonder if the fact that they’ve never not paid on a claim includes overseas. Recently, I went to Aruba and was very concerned how my outcome would transpire if I hurt myself on the beach or got ran over by a car etc. etc. 🤷🏻♂️ . There a Christian based company but they sure don’t act like it, I get emails from them saying I owe three months or $1500 when I’m all paid up and when I attempt to call them it’s a huge hold time or if you email them you have a 50% return rate on the email, I would not recommend this company !

Great video update (I have seen your 2018 version) ... one thing, when discussing directly with MediShare sign up specialists, they say if you go to a non-PHCS provider, then you are treated like a 'cash customer' ... in that case, why would a non-PHCS provider even need to know what MediShare is ... or in practice do you discuss with practice/provider and try to negotiate pricing??

Can the Tele-health doctors send prescriptions to a local pharmacy for you if they can diagnose something through the meeting? Example, something like a sinus infection where symptoms are pretty obvious through Q&A.
@SeedTime Жыл бұрын
Yep they can!

You mentioned prescriptions are covered for 6 months - so the other 6 months you pay full price? I know they negotiate a price at the pharmacy, so you pay that and it goes toward your Annual portion? Thanks for the video - very helpful

It's a scam that only works for healthy people. It's catastrophic Healthcare at best. It's not legally bound to pay your bills

Yeah, that confuses me as well. I have an ongoing prescription for my thyroid. So they only pay for 1/2 a year? And since I already take it, that would be "Pre-existing" so they wouldn't even cover that for 36 months?!

As a licensed health insurance professional, please don’t go with medishares. They’re cheaper but they’re a gamble. They might cover it they might not and there’s no legal way to be able to go after them to recover any losses. They’re also not regulated by state officials. Private health insurance if you’re healthy and are not eligible for subsidies on the ACA and Obama care if you’re looking to have pregnancy, drug and alcohol rehab, or severe mental health costs covered or if you have lower income and can qualify for a subsidy. Health insurance isn’t one size fits all so look in to your options and speak to a professional.
