No most importantly is all of the safety gear can't tell you how many times I've been thrown off a horse hell even into trees but as long as a person in the damn retard they ain't going to hurt themselves you take the fall rather than bracing yourself dummies because chances are when you go to brace yourself you hit your hand the wrong way elbow gets jacked up risk it's pumped out shoulder gets damaged leg gets jammed knee popped out so the question is would you rather just get bruised and not be forced to have to wear all this safety equipment now yes I'm sure being on the road it's some kind of law over there but also it is typical to see English writers ALWAYS wearing helmets and pads if you don't think they're wearing pads take a look at their vests only thing Americans wear with stuff like that is when we're participating in the rodeo or rodeo type events because apparently English writers aren't as good of horsemeness American writers or else they would be able to ride safely without fear of injury when not using safety equipment guess they just don't know their animals that will

My grandfather back in the 1907 use to to the market to sell veggies fruit and meat to the town people. It was approximately 5 miles from the farm. After the market he stopped at the saloon and get drunk. And the horse team pulling the wagon would leave and head for home if grandfather was more than a hour. And grandfather stumbled all the home or was found the next morning along the trail. What a life.

Of course she knows her way back home. She's smart and have an excellent memory. Back in the 50s when I was a child I saw everyday our milkman's horse stop precisely in the same spots along several blocks and I found it fascinating. One day I asked the milkman how he had taught her and he told me that he didn't. And he said the only thing that I know about horses. He did his rounds exactly in the same way everyday and she memorized everything including the places where she could nip some delicious vegetation. He said that she could do his whole round from home and back and if she by any chance escaped in his day off, he would find her doing his usual round of work. 🐴🐴🐴

All horses know the way home, unless you've driven them somewhere. Many horses are "barn crazy" meaning they'll fight you to go back to the barn, or 'home', the ENTIRE ride. 😂 I used to have a horse, Duchess, and she would run full speed to the barn as soon as I told her to go home. It was scary the first time, I had no idea she could go that fast, but after that it was like a game. 😊❤ I sure miss that beautiful girl.

Yes we called that barn sour. That gets taught from running horse back to a barn. We picked a place at different spots that we would let them canter but never back to the barn. Anytime they tried to get out of hand they were stopped and asked to calmly walk. The young horses that we were just getting under saddle were the ones that need this lesson the most.

When Hatchi notice that he didn't come back he started to wait for him at the train station where he would usually get off the train to go home. He waited for years. Sitting there through all the season and weather good or bad, he was there waiting for his best friend to come home. He died waiting for him. This makes me cry 😭😭😭😭

Use to ride horses at night to the bar with family and friends on the full moon. The bars in my small western town have hitching posts for horses, we tied them up had fun in the bar then we got on the horses and they took us home we didn't need to control them. What made it so much cooler was we had reflecter bands on their ankles so cars could see them and they knew how to stop and look both ways, because it was just routine. I miss those days 💖

There were no cars around back then, and if you needed to go to the next town to buy supplies or even go to the hospital (which would take you easily 1+ hour on foot, carrying a sick person on a hammock, or less if you carried them in your horse), there was no better way to do so than with a horse. See how she sped up? Horses love to be home and know the way instinctively. If you get in a situation where you'll fall off, just fall. The horse will run home. Reminds me of an incident my great-uncle told me about. When he was young, they only had a buggy and a wagon to get around. Most everyone in their community had horses and buggies or wagons and not cars. It was early 1900s and cars were too expensive for a lot of people. He said that he had picked up his girl friend with the horse & buggy for a date. After their daye, he had taken her back home and headed back home himself. Only he fell asleep. The next thing he knew, he woke up sitting in the buggy in front of his girl friend's home. The horse turned around and went back there instead of heading back to his own home. I always loved that story. LOL
