Seeing off the Russian winter - Recipe for pancakes with grandma

Friends, hello everyone. every year in Russia they celebrate the departure of winter - this holiday is called Maslenitsa. A week before this holiday, many people start baking pancakes. Pancakes are considered a symbol of the holiday and symbolize the ruddy sun. The holiday represents the beginning of spring. Another obligatory tradition of Maslenitsa is considered to be the burning of an effigy. For this holiday, I went to the nearest city and shot a video.

Hello Nastya, Your Videos remind me of my childhood in a small villiage, during the 60is in Germany. Very happy memories of cold winters with plenty of snow, good, honest food and people. Been to Moscow in 1976....love Russian people and culture, however diverse. Now I live in tropical Australia and miss the cold, and the coziness of a warm fire, warming food and a simpler life. My Russian Grandma, Matilda, came to US from Russia and she made the most delicious thin pancakes(crepes), she would put her homemade jelly inside roll it up put powered sugar on top and we would eat them warm. It was heaven visiting her on the farm in Northern Wisconsin? ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

your grandma reminds me my own grandma, she used to cook georgian food for us, she started everything from a scratch, she was slow in her movements, but she had strict rules and followed them in preparing delicious meals for us. thank you for being with your grandma, enjoy the time being with her, later in your life you will dream to have her alive with you.
