Golly, I love baby language: it was almost like Jack was trying to say helicopter at first and then he was saying truck; at that age the ‘t’s and k’s are difficult so it kept coming out ‘eyoppa’ and ‘ugh’… respectively. Y’all are super sweet to witness. Bliss to all of you!

I remember my Dad telling me about a flight from 🇺🇸 to Belgium a few years ago & there was a woman with a baby who cried most of the way next to him so half the flight he was helping her and rocking the baby. Thought that was so kind and more people should be helping and understanding because I can't imagine being under that pressure 💜

When you guys travel, here's a tip that my parents used when my sister and I were little! They would always schedule the flight during our nap times. So they would give us our bottles on the plane, and away we went! It made it so much easier to travel with small kids.

I would say bedtime would be better. The noise from a plane can be white noise. You can use noise cancelling headphones if it is naptime, you can put some sleepy music from an app on little earphones and put the squishy earplugs in their ears after they fall asleep. I would suggest bedtime because most of the passengers are asleep. If the doctor approves you may be able to give him Melatonin, just for the one night. I would suggest Benadryl, if your doctor plays it, especially if you are changing time zones. Anything the doctor may suggest fo ft your child having trouble sleeping, like the 2 OTC meds I mentioned, try them once at home so you know how your child will react. Ask the doctor about all this first. The thing about Benadryl is it can make your child hyper as a side effect. It is allergy medication. I had to give my son Benadryl because he was having an allergic reaction to amoxycillin. He was already overtired and felt miserable from also having hives and fever. He fell asleep in no time, but he was up and wide awake in an hour and we were home, we had no vacation plans. Even when they gave my son an MRI and gave him twice what they usually gibf

Exactly!! And when parents can’t figure out what they’re saying or what they’re tryna communicate, the baby resorts to crying as another form of communication. Say for example the baby wants to go outside and the parent doesn’t know what they want, the baby will think, “well since they can’t understand what I’m saying and what I’m trying to communicate, maybe crying will work because then they’ll know somethings wrong.” And of course the crying often comes from frustration, like you said. It’s important for parents to be as patient as they can in this stage of development!

A wonderfully frustrating age....trying to communicate & SO MANY lovely & exciting things to say....it will happen.... And when Jack really starts talking a whole new chapter will unfold.... Watching you kids makes me smile....my children are 38 & 40.... My youngest wuld be 33, but he went to heaven with his daddy.... No grandkids, just furry ones and i love them.... Y'all are so brave for flying with him, on NUMEROUS occasions now! I dreaded taking my 4 kids out to eat, even. Jack is getting so big and chatty! I love how you guys treasure and take advantage of every little moment with Jack! Never let them sneak by. The time goes so fast! Believe me, my kids are 23, 20 & 12...& My grandson is already going to be 4 next month!!! Treasure every moment! 💗

I gotta give you props! I flew to Florida from Portland with a 9 month old. I was so thankful for my stroller, when we were in customs at the Bahamas I probably did 100 or more laps with that thing. Glad you guys survived the trip but yea that second seat would have helped. Thanks for sharing the video

He is growing so fast, the last time I watched a vid, he was just barely mumbling and could say like lil words, but precious lil man is like, It's coming! Derek is so good to Sarah, and of course, vice versa. (Side note-I remember prior to the mid-1990s it was not as common for parents to take young children on flights because, in general, people would go to great lengths to not disrupt or inconvenience other people. This is not a comment directly at this family, because it's now common for kids to fly and most people are ok with it. )

You need to get a Delta Sky Club Executive Club membership. That way you can have a place to lounge, eat, rest, Jack would love it. It would make your traveling so much easier. Plus make sure you are all signed up for sky miles, when Jack turns 2 he can start earning points for himself. Totally worth it. We are from SLC too and ALL 4 our kids have had their accounts for years, the Sky-miles never expire so it is perfect. My oldest daughter just got married in July of 2021 and she use her points to pay for her and her husband’s flight for their honeymoon… So glad you loved your cruise 🚢
