Hey Eli, long time viewer. You in part influenced me to study computer science in college many years ago which led to my career today. Just want to say thanks. Your passion for teaching is unmatched. I know it must feel incredible to watch topics click for people and see them gain what is like a superpower. I know I felt unstoppable once programming clicked for me. Hope we can have a beer one day somehow. If you get that $1,000,000 donation I'd be honored to run the Kansas City branch of Silicon Dojo :)

Welcome back. What is always interesting about these types of advisors, the one you had dinner with, is that their only skill is to be an advisor. No consequences. Just remember some one liners and jargon.

I can see why he's been typed as an ESTJ with that dominant auxiliary function of Introverted Sensing (basically the first five minutes of the video).

Would you say that politics is a rabbit hole to hell, Eli? I think it would be best to just give up in trying to figure out politics, and just focus on ourselves. If a draft happens, I'll be ready!!!

I think a therapist would call what you’re talking about rewarding your future. The basic idea is take decisions your future self will thank you for. A simple example would be you’re at a bar some one says let’s have tequila shots at 7pm. Will your future self thank you for this decision or look back at you and disapprove.

the military story is interesting. wouldnt apply to the japanese. one mofo was stuck on an island till the 1970s. he literally had to have his ex officer guy come over and tell him wars over. also maybe they just died of food poisoning?
