Back-at-it-again!
In this exciting sites and sounds of Haiti episode, we get to share the awesome experience of visiting HillBilly EcoLodge & Farm located just outside of Port Au Prince in the small village of Papette. A farm that has been apart of his family for generations, it's now an ecolodge where folks can enjoy a peaceful getaway to the natural outdoors of Haiti, while enjoying Haitian meals with the freshest ingredients and excursions that take advantage of your countryside location. We follow Alain Maximillien aka "Haitian Hillbilly" as he guides us on what his incredibly 50 acre property has to offer.
*Due to COVID and other logistical reasons, Haitian Hillbilly has put on pause the ecolodge farm and actually has focused on having the property function as a farm. If anything changes, we'll let you know*

Its the millennials who will change the face of tourism in Haiti. I'm not from Haiti but, I'll visit this spot once I visit Haiti.

WOW.......AMAZING AND BREATHTAKINGLY STUNNING.....I love the Eco concept specially for Haiti. Most importantly, I am so happy and proud to see the sons and daughters of Haiti are coming back regardless of their skin colors, well overdue, we all know of the painful not so distant xenophobic history of the Duvaliers to which we lost so many Haitian families who had to leave Haiti, particularly those from the elite class. I am not too crazy about the hillbilly concept specially in the age of Trump, living in America, hillbillies are not quite exactly people who kinda represent the positive sides of a society, anyhoo, he looks like a hillbilly, I guess he has a pass. I wish Alan could have done more with the place such as planting more trees like breadfruit trees, coconut trees, palm trees, avocado trees etc...This Ecolodge needs to look more like a garden of Eden then this desolate place. By the way the white flowers that he showed look more like "GARDENIAS" then roses, they don't seem to be roses, the shapes are not roses and the leaves are not of roses. On this topic, where are the flowers Alan????? dude you need to plant more flowers, pine trees, palm trees, bushes, plant those trees with big/large leaves. You are definitely seating on a gold mine, Jeanty, "aransor" is "SMOKED HERRING". The food looks yummy, Alan you definitely need more animals and you also need to get the farming aspect of raising these animals correct, them pigs in these small rooms don't look too humane, you need goats, sheep, cows, chicken, turkeys, ducks etc. As the chef, you can cook the rabbits and trust me since you are the chef whatever you cook they will eat, there are so many ways to cook rabbits. I personally love rabbit and nothing says Eco than eating and cooking these organically grown animals/veggies/fruits from the farm. The hotel aspect of the lodge definitely needs the touch of a professional. Trust me, you already have the love and the ideas but all you need is to polish this rough diamond that you have and BOOM YOU WILL BE A DESTINATION LIKE NO OTHER.....Good LUCK
