While a resident live like a medical student. Pay your minimum monthly loans. When you’re an attending live like a resident until you pay off loans. I did this as a physician and was debt free 2 years post residency.

This reminds me of the couple who were given a house a house full of furniture as a wedding present after they graduated medical school. When you save $1000/mo on rent/mortgage, it is a lot easier to pay off student loans.

So... if you live like a resident and as a resident live like a medical student... you live like a medical student until your loans are paid?

Under one year until I get my PharmD and I am struggling to rent because no one takes professional students seriously. I can figure out a life-saving regimen for you in the hospital, but I can't convince a landlord that I can pay without mentioning parents' income. Like come on.

We are sorry. The problem is truly ridiculous. One of our co-founders finished a shift in the CVICU as a resident, came home, and shopped for a loan online just for a few thousand dollars. Banks did not trust them and demanded they had a cosigner (even for a small loan) even though just hours before they were trusted with someone’s life. Banks just don’t get it.

It's so great that Doctors who have been through it before you stood up to do something about the financial issues med students face. What a wonderful thing in the world today! Thank You Panacea Financial, and those who founded it. Maybe the youth will dream of being Dr.'s again.

If it's something he really believes could work for medical student and doctors it's somehow nice of him to let his audience (which presumably includes many people working/studying in the medical field) know about it thougj, while gaining some money (which I really don't mind him earning, since this channel is really interesting and funny and I'm sure he's a competent physician)!

this might be before zoom interviews were a thing but you had to pay for your own flight, room + food, clothes, and other necessities for fellowship interviews. these aren't covered by the company interviewing you (as is the case with major financial companies or higher-up positions)

I'm a bit disappointed with all the advertising of services I've see on on this site lately. I love the Doc Schmidt videos, but I've seen three adverts today alone. I enjoyed the cute skits just for humorous purposes. I suppose he makes money he needs by doing advertising for different services, but it feels a bit like a sell out. I'm not a doctor or med student, and I suppose it's helpful to those who are, but it's annoying to get ready to enjoy another skit based on his experiences as a GI Fellow, only to realize the video content is mostly an advertisement for a service offered to medical personnel.
