@@colchronic If it was a coolant line then brass on aluminum would be a terrible idea, but a breather with PTFE separating the metals I'd be shocked if it was an issue.
@johnhpalmer60982 жыл бұрын
@@colchronic To clarify, when two dissimilar metals are connected directly like for instance, plumbing, galvanized pipes connected directly to copper, galvanic corrosion. It's when a metal that is incompatible meets another metal, accelerated corrosion results and in a few years, leaks can appear in the case of plumbing. That's what's been discovered in my house, and was likely done when the bathroom was redone in 2009.
@creamofbotulismsoup99002 жыл бұрын
@@johnhpalmer6098 To add to this a bit more you can have dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other and have zero issues if they are not also in contact with a electrolyte such as water that contains minerals or a tiny amount of metal dissolved in it. Things like CPU coolers and AC evaporators/condensers will often have aluminum and copper in direct contact with each other and they don't corrode any faster than they would if the metals weren't in contact with each other. If you use those same metals with each other for plumbing or a cooling loop they will corrode much faster and they don't even have to be in direct contact with each other to cause problems. You can use corrosion inhibitors in a cooling system(most if not all automotive coolant will contain these inhibitors) to reduce galvanic corrosion but it doesn't completely solve the problem and even 100% pure water will eventually dissolve some of the metals it is contact with and become electrically conductive.

What i learned dismantling is priceless. How to get things apart withought breaking them. Not to mention organizarion and speed. 32 vehicles a month. And always got the most difficult vehicles. All the high end stuff. 4x4`s and body cuts amd glass pulls. And back then had to clean amd tag my own parts. And do all my own paperwork. On top of that my last 1.5 hrs a day doing repairs on engines. Intake gaskets on gm v6's and rebiulds on front end amackedu subaru and audi v6 engines. I was a beast now im metal and a useless body. Metal from my neck to my ankle and a couple knee surgeies. One replaced. And back surgery. Going in for mri today for another cage in my neck. Work hard play hard and at 50 spent lol. Took 8 years off to build houses ground up. Concrete to the roof and finish work. But trust me. If one has a brain those rim stamds are extremely reliable. And way way better than a jack stand.
