You guys should do a “double-sided” episode consisting of stories where OP posts and then another person involved in the situation comments or posts about it to add more context or clarify things. the one with the wedding dress reminds me of that one story were the bride also knew a in law was going to wear a fancy full on wedding dress with veil. and she decided as many family members had already gotten married, and many found it sad there attire and dresses were never worn again. so she told everybody else to wear their old wedding dresses and tuxedos to celebrate the spirit of marriage. Everybody in the family were delighted and felt so happy and nostalgic. and the in law was pissed she wasn't the only star that was shining. also added petty points, the in law hadn't been married yet and all married couples and people had been asked to wear their attire, so she heard all evening "you will find one soon" "your time will come" "there are plenty of fish in the sea" from people who felt sad for her fake wedding gown.

The phrase "petty revenge" is usually NOT meant in the same way as, say, "petty theft," where the theft itself is small. It's a metaphorical, moral smallness.

I've been a Daycare worker for about 9 years now. My first daycare job I was paid $7.25 per hour for 8 hour shift and I was full time (40hours per week. Paid bi- weekly) Next daycare paid me $10 per hour for the same hours. My current daycare pays $15 per hour for 8 hour shifts, full time (40 hours) paid bi weekly. Daycare are expensive and are considered minimum wage jobs. That lady charging $200 for 6 hours is bullshit and I love the revenge.

I loved the last story, it was very timely for me. Some middle age creep has been sending really vile sexually harassing messages to my 21 yr old daughter. He’s using textnow to get new numbers every time she blocks him. It’s pretty clear he’s being very bold because he thinks his numbers can’t be traced due to textnow’s business model. We filed a police report with all the screenshots and the disgusting photo he sent yesterday and they are going to contact textnow to get his identity.

I think the difference between petty, pro, and nuclear revenge is the amount of effort OP puts into it. Petty is when they put little effort into the revenge while pro and nuclear is when they start reaching movie level of making a person's life a living hell
@slsthewriter12996 ай бұрын
Hard disagree. …kinda. Petty can either mean it in itself is small, *or* it's a pro/nuclear revenge over a small thing, so there's a duality in the adjective depending on what it is you're indicating is petty. If you're describing the conflict as a whole is petty, then yeah. It's not that big of a deal. When you describe *someone* as petty, they themselves are not small. You're saying they will take a small issue and elevate it to whatever extreme just to prove a point. People who commit to pro/nuclear efforts are innately petty.
@GIRru116 ай бұрын
@slsthewriter1299 I'm not really talking about the people themselves, I'm more referring to the actions they do. Like Shane said he considers the story of the woman who slept with her ex's father as pro revenge but I see it as petty because the action itself was a small one time thing, as opposed to tbe final story where OP ruined a man's life by going detective mode
@slsthewriter12996 ай бұрын
@@GIRru11 But that's the thing. Whenever you talk about a petty person, you are talking about them in regards to these instances. And particularly in recent years, colloquial language has adapted and people can mean either "this is just a small thing" or "this is something blown out of proportion *over* a small thing."

@slsthewriter12996 ай бұрын
@@GIRru11 100%. I do study linguistics, so I personally find it really interesting. xD But, it's highly contextual and depends on the tone. Like there's a huge difference between, "Oh, that's petty," vs "Oh…that's *petty."* The emphasis alone separates one from the other, but that gets lost in translation in writing unless someone knows to use punctuation appropriately.

If the other woman is upset about the rate, she's admitting she was out of line before, and she was out of line out of NOWHERE, whereas OP was just responding in kind. Plus, it's wise for OP to establish that boundary because it sounds like this girl would take advantage of any kindness offered to her.
