Wow, what a compelling demonstration of the mind changing power of games and simulations! I’m already thinking of ways I can integrate this technique into my presentations. Thank you!

The improved performance may simply come from training effects (they're busy with the paper planes for 50min). There is no control group. Therefore nothing can be said of the intervention effect. An actual RCT would entail an intervention group, and an active control group (these people are busy with the material for 50min, but are not using the intervention). No one should be aware of what group they belong to (intervention vs active control), to avoid self-fulfilling prophecy. This is blind randomization.

Yes, that is correct. These simulation games are not actual randomized controlled trials for all the reasons you mentioned. Looking at the video I see I had neglected to mention that at the time of the talk. But is it good you are pointing it out here so people are aware. Thanks for sharing.--ZKR

This is how people never play game think they can design game~~~ result, not many people want to participate, and they need to use music and sound effect to cover how boring the process was.

A well-designed simulation is actually quite exciting. My course is typically over-enrolled. Try playing sometime if you find a professional Lean Simulation Game being offered in your hometown. I think you'll find the process and outcome quite illuminating.
