There's a reason that Gunsmoke ran for 20 seasons, it is one of the best shows ever. Me and my wife watch it everyday.

It had morals. Men were men and the women wore dresses and were very beautiful. The men were honest, and worked hard. The women worked hard and made homes with healthy families. There’s a great deal of history incorporated in Gunsmoke, like stories about cattle drives on the Chisholm trail.

@mcmneverreadsreplys73183 жыл бұрын
Generally, for cost reasons, movie sets are built to be only as strong and as durable as is absolutely necessary. In a few rare instances, some private promoter will build a durable set with the intention renting it over many years of use - such as Old Tuscon Studios (Theme Park).

We went there maybe 15 years ago, up Johnson Canyon outside of Kanab Utah. It looks much more weathered than it did when we were there. However, we never entered past the gate because there were all these No Trespassing signs (maybe they were removed, later). Not too far away, towards Lake Powell, is the lost ghost town filming location, Pariah. Luckily we were able to also visit that place before it was destroyed by either fire or flood. It was totally cool and still 100% all there. The Outlaw Josey Wales was filmed at Pariah. When we visited it, there was no one else around. We got some neat video of the inside and outsides of the wooden buildings. So sad it's all gone.

Property is often passed down to ungrateful heirs. All they care about is the cash. They don't care about how hard their family worked to obtain the land or it's historical value. Once they have pissed away the money there will be nothing left but regrets.

Some of it is really interesting to speculate on. I believe I figured reason for the loop-type double-vent stove/furnace in the Long Branch (that is regularly relocated, LOL). If not accurate, it would be compleley logical and functional of more hot tubing to radiate more heat than one single vertical stack. Non-sloping would have had difficult, smokey start-ups. Its hard to remember the real-life would have been in color, LOL.
@kevindoran45903 жыл бұрын
Yes, they used it some, but for the most part the Dodge City set was a soundstage in Hollywood. That is why when Matt rides down the street on his horse he always turns a corner. Otherwise he would run in to a wall with buildings painted on it.

Don Dressel....I am from Cochise County Az, and grew up not far from Tombstone. What you see as the OK Corral, is just a portion of what it used to be.
