I am so inspired and love that you were inspired by me, too! Thanks for sharing your ink journal. I am particularly impressed by your Ancient Copper pages because Ancient Copper looks so dynamic and changes ever so slightly depending on the nib!

I have to pause watching half way through so I'll be back to watch more later but I just want to let you know how much you have sparked joy in me this morning from your sharing of the swatching out on scraps for ephemera (sp?) What a wonderful idea! I also found freedom this year in not holding myself bondage to a way of using a notebook or the way of creating my log of inks...all of that type of thing I am moving forward trying new things when something isn't working and its allowing me to consistently find a forward movement in discovery. Love it! Super inspiring video. Thank you so much for continuing to share with the community.

Thank you! You made me feel so much better about my own ink journal where it’s a messy junkyard of trial and error! I was feeling like a complete failure! Everyone else’s journals are so neat and tidy… it was really nice to see that someone as talented as yourself goes through a messy phase.

I'm so glad! I hope you find a way that works for you - isn't the journal in all its stages just an awesome document of how your ink journey progresses?

@@seemownay YES, I love being able to fill a journal with colorful, shiny scribbles- even if it’s messy. I’m quite new to all of this and am loving every phase of the journey. A big thank you to you for sharing your knowledge and process, I’ve learned so much. 💖

I am in the process of developing a new ink journal swatch system as well. I noticed methods I wish I had done differently in my current system and will implement in my new book. I do use the color card rings, but also purchased the Rolodex after watching Ginger Peachy Stationery share her card system. I enjoy the creativity and inspiration I receive from others in this fountain pen community. While you may see remnants of my current ink swatching methods, I’ll need to share the new after it is created. I’m sure, like you, I will make changes along the way. Thanks for sharing.

It's so wonderful to find a system that stays fun .... I can always tell when I need to find new solutions because if I'm not excited like a little kid to get to my pen desk then no doubt something just needs to change!!! I hope you love the Sailor Hocoro's as much as I do!! I tend to take them to the sink to rinse out but it's so quick and easy to pop off the nib unit!!! The little feeds are great and we'll worth the $3 each for the F and 1.1. I am very awkward with the brass Kakimori nib!!! I want to love it but I'm not consistent at all with it yet. But I'm having great fun with the glass nib and Sailor dip pens!!! I need to find a metal box like yours!!! 🙂

Thanks so much for your feedback on the Hocoro pens. I received them a week ago and they really fill the gap of nib sizes that I would want to see in the Ink Journal.

This was so incredibly helpful to see and to hear about your process. At any given time, I feel like I have half a dozen different ink journals going, just because I get tired of one method and feel compelled to start a totally new book. I love the idea of the whole discovery element being as important to your process as the result, and it was inspiring to see that practice in action. Thank you for a great video, as always!! 😍😍😍

I found this so interesting! I have been working on how to track my new pens and inks, and currently inked and have tweaked my pen journal over the last few months. I will have to post a video soon and share it with you. I do not go as deep into exploring the inks as you clearly do. Simply because I am new to all this and had no idea it was a thing to even consider. New subscriber here and I can not wait to check out more of your content. This was amazingly helpful!

You are so inspiring. After watching Chris’ video, I too ordered the horoco dip pens! I've been watching how different folks create their ink swatches. I love that you are having fun because you can be inspired but don't have to do it like anyone else.

What fun! I'm so glad you found a system that works for you. I absolutely love the idea of using leftover ink and paper scraps to make ephemera. I'm inspired to try this, even though I have no artistic ability.

It's a lot of fun to do, but just beware: it's so much harder that I thought, better use lighter inks because the rest then isn't overpowered by the ink.

Amazing video. I was also inspired by Liane Likes. I use a measuring cup but don’t turn a full circle every time. Or sometimes more that one circle. So every swatch comes out a slightly different shape, but also related to the others.

I know it's not the point of this video, but one of my big takeaways is that I should get a sample of Sailor Manyo Akebi. 🤣🤣 I love seeing what you've tried and hearing your thoughts on it. It's helpful for me when trying to think of what I'd like to do for myself.

I have a bottle and I will happily share! I think I found what works - I've been asked about dry time but I don't really care about that, it either dries or it doesn't and it gets blotted. And if it continues to not dry it's ... gone.
