Love your top 5 and I love how personal this is. Yes, we all have different experiences with pens so no two top 5 lists are going to be the same and I love that. Thank you for sharing!

Hi seemownay I see an on the 743 nib at 04:54, I think you're right that it's stiffer. If you get an (Soft Medium) nib, you should feel that bounce you're missing.
@seemownay5 күн бұрын
That might be true - to me it's just the realization that smooth does not equal a soft and bouncy nib.

I love watching different people's perspectives on pens. It's really helpful and interesting. Side note I bought my first Benu for my husband to give to me for xmas 😅

You are my hero. I'm trying to get down to 36 pens.

@ Haha it felt really extreme when I did it but the reason is nothing to strive for. I am chronically ill and I don’t have the energy to care for all the pens any more. Now I hope I have a manageable amount because I really don’t want to stop using fountain pens completely.

That is something I briefly entertained and then quickly dismissed. Kudos to you!

I wish your reason why was different. Lots of love to you!

This made bring woke at 5am on a Sunday morning totally worth it. No worries about me running out and buying a gold nib let alone a titanium one. Great job.

1. This is an impressively diverse list, including Lamy, Pilot, Sailor, Pelikan, AND Leonardo. I would have assumed that many penners would select just one of these very different brands. 2. I could never control my titanium nib which I ended up trading away. Presumably my hand is too heavy. 3. Here are my 5, in size order: Franklin-Christoph M20

I am very surprised how much I like that nib tbh. Your top 5 are amazing!

All great choices! I absolutely love all nib sizes from EF - B on my Pelikan pens. My Waterman Carene is used daily with joy. My Leonardo MZ Angel Skin F would be a favorite of mine. I need to tackle this project seriously. Thanks for sharing!

Great video! I love the way you think about your pens and what makes each different. After watching, I went straight away to compare my Sailor Pro Gear Realo w/Medium nib, Pilot Custom 823 w/ Med (tuned for me by Kirk Speer at the Detroit Penn show), and the Pilot Custom 743 w/Soft Fine Medium nib. The Pilot 843 is my favorite, probably because it was tuned by a master, although the Realo writes like a dream. Thanks for sharing your hobby with us.

Your experience with the Leonardo MZG with the Titanium nib made me consider getting one myself. Leonardo has been selling pens through Catawiki for a while now, and for a few weeks have added some with a Titanium nib as well, so last weekend, I actually bought one (for a lot less than they sell them for on their own website!). It's en route to me now and I can't wait to try it.

It's a really good (and solid) TOP 5. I can't make a selection like you : I have too many pens in my favs list... some great brands (Waterman, Parker, Montblanc, Pelikan) and others totally unknown/unbranded. BUT, if I have to chose my "absolute" favs in order of appreciation : Reden's, Montblanc, Pelikan, Récife and Waterman... mostly vintage models.

It was absolutely hard and I felt very bad for discriminating against some of my other pens.

I am on a nib journey for 2025 my pen budget is $0 next year. Although I really want to try a Waterman Carene with a fie nib.

I’m not going to limit anything because it just won't work. However, I really want to slow down. Maybe a few pricier pens that need saving up for.

Oh my, how broad that fine Pelikan writes 🤯. This is my problem with some pen brands. Due to my small handwriting, their nibs are of no use to me. Pity.
@seemownay5 күн бұрын
That's really unfortunate.
@raybuck4 күн бұрын
If you can, try the Pelikan EF. It writes like a "normal" fine nib.
