In the 10th year of the Hijra on the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the day of ‘Arafāt the Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) performed his last and only Hajj.
On this blessed day, in the blessed land of ‘Arafāt the Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) gave his famous final sermon where among other things he abolished usury/interest, reminded the people to fear Allah with regards to the responsibilities towards their women, and annihilated racism and bigotry.
In a time when wealth was circulated only amongst the rich through usury and interest, where women were treated worst than animals, and where the colour of your skin & tribal lineage defined your status in society. The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said those beautiful words in his final sermon that echo through history...
"There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab, nor of a non-Arab over an Arab, nor of a white over a black, nor a black over a white, except by taqwa (piety & God conciseness)."
In this video, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi covers the farewell Hajj of the Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) step-by-step and the last sermon he delivered from Jabal ar-Rahma in Arafat.
The highlights of the sermon included:
- Human equality regardless of race, tribe, and ethnicity
- The protection of women
- The prohibition of homicide, injustice, and usury
Watch the entire series here: • Seerah of Prophet Muha...
Join Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi as he discusses the chapter of the farewell Hajj in the Seerah of the Prophet (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam).
Study the biography of the single greatest human being that ever walked the surface of this earth, whom Allah sent as a Mercy to Mankind.

We would endeavor to live by the facts if jannah is the destination... In sha Allah. Aamiin. Thank you for a job well done. May Allah reward you accordingly... Aamiin assalam alaikum.

At round 1.20. About women. Not necessarily "because no society can flourish if women are treated badly" which is probably true too....but maybe Allah meant cause we are just as important in Allah's eyes as men are and men don't treat us with respect. Allah Knows Best! :)

Episode 100 Notes: Part 2 and Final (Part 1 is in same comment section) - Sermons between the 10th-12th of Dhul Hijjah The Prophet SAW also gave several Khutbah’s between the days of Dhul Hijjah and below is a summary: “Verily time has returned to its rightful place, as it was on the day that Allah SWT created the heavens and the Earth. A year is 12 months, 4 of which are sacred, 3 of them are consecutive and Rajab is between two months”. The Prophet SAW then asked the Muslims “What month is it? What day is it? What place is it?” and the Prophet SAW himself answered the questions. The Prophet SAW then stated that “Verily your lives, your money and your honour are just as sacred as this day, this month and this place is upon you. Let the one who is present inform the one who isn’t. So that perhaps the who isn’t present, will understand it better than the one was present. The real Muslim is the one from whose hands and tongue, other Muslim are safe from. The Mu’min is the one who, other people trust with their money and property. The Muhajir is the one who has left the sins for the sake of Allah SWT and the Mujahid is the one who is striving in the path of Allah SWT. Fear Allah SWT, pray your 5 prayers, fast in the month of Ramadan, give your Zakat, obey your rulers and you will enter Jannah. All of you are from one and your father is one. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab. Also a white has no superiority over a black, Nor a black has any superiority over a white except by piety and good action.” - End of the Hajj On the 13th Dhul Hijjah, the Prophet SAW performed the final Tawaf at night time and then began his journey back to Medina. - Umrah of Aisha RA On the 4th of Dhul Hijjah, Aisha RA had began her menses and the Prophet SAW had told her to perform every rite of the Hajj excluding Tawaf. However, Aisha RA’s menses ended before the 13th of Dhul Hijjah and thus she was able to perform Tawaf too. This meant Aisha RA had been able to perform the Hajj in its entirety. Prior to departing Makkah, the Prophet SAW walked in on Aisha RA crying because she had been unable to perform Umrah due to her menses. Aisha RA begged the Prophet SAW to allow her to perform Umrah and the Prophet SAW allowed this. Thus she was sent with her brother Abdul Rahman RA to perform Umrah. Aisha RA was able to perform her Umrah successfully and later she met up with the Prophet SAW on the long road to Medina. - The Incident of Ghadir Khumm Ali RA had been in Yemen prior to the Hajj of the Prophet SAW. The Prophet SAW had told Ali RA to bring 100 camels to him in Makkah, in order to slaughter them during the Hajj. Therefore Ali RA brought the 100 camels as well as, the Sadaqah and Zakat of the people of Yemen. Ali RA was very excited to meet the Prophet SAW as he had been in Yemen for a while. Thus Ali RA left someone behind to mind the Yemeni caravan. The man left behind decided, of his own volition, to distribute some of the expensive clothing Ali RA brought, to the people of Ali RAs caravan, as payment for their services. Ali RA upon finding out was furious and told them all to take off the garments and put them back in the Sadaqah caravan. The reason being was because this wealth was meant for the poor and not for anyone else. After the Hajj, the people from the caravan of Ali RA, decided to complain to the Prophet SAW and this is what they did. The Prophet SAW upon hearing them, then gave the sermon of Ghadir Khumm, in which he highly praised Ali RA and rebuked those who took the clothing meant for Sadaqah. The Prophet SAW then stated that “Ali RA is the Mawla and Allah SWT loves and protects him, so stop complaining about Ali RA”. The Prophet SAW then stated “I leave behind 2 things, the Qur’an and to fear Allah SWT in relation to my family”. - Why is this Event Important? The Shia use this sermon as the primary reason to claim, that Ali RA was meant to be first Khalifah RA and not Abu Bakr RA. But, the Sunni’s just view this as the Prophet SAW casually praising Ali RA and don’t view it to be anything significant at all. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW knew his death was near and that’s why he was bidding the Muslims farewell. Fun Trivia fact: We have no accurate number for how many people performed Hajj with the Prophet SAW. Fun Trivia fact: According to the majority, Hajj should be done as soon as one has the money to do so. It should not be delayed. There are other opinions though. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW never had a larger audience than that of the Hijjatu Al Wada. Fun Trivia fact: All the Fiqh of Hajj comes from this one Hajj. Fun Trivia fact: There are 3 types of Hajj, Hajj Ul Ifrad which is when someone performs Hajj (only applies to those living near Makkah). Hajj Ul Qiran which is when someone performs Umrah and then Hajj too. You cannot change out of Ihram between the Umrah and Hajj during this type. The last is Hajj Al Tammatu which is same the same as Hajj Ul Qiran, with the only exception being that you can leave Ihram after performing Umrah. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW recommended Hajj Al Tammatu. Fun Trivia fact: There are two types of Umrah. The first is Umrah Al Tammatu, which is performed alongside Hajj Al Tammatu. It can only be done in Hajj. The second type is Umrah Al Mufradah, which is when you perform an independent pilgrimage, this can be done at any time. Fun Trivia fact: In the time of Nuh AS, 5 Pagan gods were worshipped. They were Wadd, Suwa, Yaguth, Ya’uq and Nasr. In the time of the Prophet SAW, the Pagan Arabs also worshipped these gods. The Prophet SAW ordered Khalid RA to destroy the temple of Wadd and Suwa’s shrine was destroyed by Amr Ibn Al As RA. Fun Trivia fact: The Hadith of Jabir is the longest one pertaining to the Hajj of the Prophet SAW. Fun Trivia fact: Women can enter Ihram despite being on their periods. Fun Trivia fact: Arafat is not within the Haram boundaries. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW gave 4 Khutbah’s at Hajj, with the most important being the one at Arafat. Fun Trivia fact: Mount Arafat is nothing special and you can be anywhere on Arafat and its all the same. The mountain isn’t itself more special than the surrounding plain as per the Hadith of the Prophet SAW. The same was stated about Mina and Muzdalifah. Nor are you required to climb Arafat. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW sacrificed 63 camels, each for one year of his life. Fun Trivia fact: The camels were competing and running with one another in order to be sacrificed by the Prophet SAW. Fun Trivia fact: The Hajj is still blessed, regardless if it falls on a Friday. Fun Trivia fact: In the Sunan At Tirmidhi there is a variation of the Khutbah of 10th Dhul Hijjah, in which the Prophet SAW stated that, “Shaytaan has given up hope of being worshipped in Arabia. But, he is hopeful of you obeying him in matters that you consider as trivial.” Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW did not climb Jabal Ar Rahma when he gave the famous Khutbah. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW did not just give one Khutbah during his Hajj. Rather he gave 4 notable ones. The first was at Arafat and the remaining 3 were at Mina on the various days of Hajj. ========================================================== Disclaimer for my Notes of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Series: Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, these are my notes on Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah series. Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes. One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. Could be a great form of Sadaqah Jaariyah. Please keep me in your Duas and ask Allah SWT to forgive all our sins during this blessed month and beyond! Ameen

Episode 100 Notes: Part 1 Hijjatu Al Wada (The Farewell Hajj) It is now 10 AH and at this point Paganism, has been wiped out from Arabia and Islam is at its zenith. In this year Allah SWT revealed the commandment of Hajj, although there is a difference of opinion on the year. The people called this Hajj, Hijjatu Al Wada from the time of the Prophet SAW. This is because the Prophet SAW was bidding people farewell and they did not realise his death was near. Once the commandment was revealed, the Prophet SAW then announced his Hajj and called the people to him to join him. Thousands came to Medina and many more joined the Muslims along the route to Makkah. The Prophet SAW departed Medina on 25th Dhul Qa’dah after praying Zuhur, all of his wives RA came along. The Prophet SAW then headed to Dhul Hulayfah and prayed 2 Rakkah’s there and changed into Ihram. The Prophet SAW then approached Makkah on the 4th Dhul Hijjah after a 10 day journey. However, the Prophet SAW did not immediately go into Makkah as he arrived on the outskirts at night time. Thus the Prophet SAW, rested for the night and took a ghusl, before entering into the city. The Prophet SAW had made the Niyyah to make Hajj Ul Qiran and thus did this but, he regretted this. The Prophet SAW upon entering Makkah, went to the Ka’ba and performed 3 Tawaf’s quickly and the remaining 4 slowly. The Prophet SAW then performed all the remaining acts of Umrah. - The Hajj Begins The Prophet SAW then stayed in Makkah for 4 days after Umrah. During this time Ali RA arrived in Makkah from Yemen, with 100 camels that, the Prophet SAW had requested for slaughter, for his Hajj. On the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, the Prophet SAW and Sahabah went to Mina in order to begin their Hajj. There the Prophet SAW prayed Zuhur-Fajar and spent the night at Mina. On the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, the Prophet SAW led the Muslims to Arafat and gave a Khutbah there: - Khutbah at Arafat: On the mountain of Arafat, Allah SWT revealed Ayah 3 of Surah 5, confirming that Islam has been chosen as the religion for the Muslims. The Prophet SAW then began his Khutbah, in front of the largest congregation he has ever given a Khutbah too. The Prophet SAW ordered Al Abbas RA and Ali RA to repeat his Khutbah, in order to ensure that everyone hears it. Also a miracle occurred where the voice of the Prophet SAW was heard by people far away. There are many versions of the Khutbah but, below is a summary: “Oh People, listen to me, for I know not, whether I should meet you again after this year. Your blood and your money are Haram are for you. Just like how this day has its sanctity, in this month, in this land. Verily everything from the time of Jaahiliyah is under my foot. All of the blood feuds from the days of Jaahiliyah are gone. The first blood money I oblieterate, is from my own family, the son of Rabiah Ibn Al Harithiah. Verily the Riba from the days of Jaahiliyah is under my foot and the first Riba I abolish is the Riba of my uncle Al Abbas RA. Fear Allah in relation to women, for you have taken them under the protection of Allah and you have made them permissible in the name of Allah. Their right upon you is that, they do not allow anyone to step on your bed, for you would hate it. If they do something to disobey you, you have the right to discipline them, in a manner that is not painful. They have a right over you, that you give them their Rizq and their sustenance, in a manner that is suitable for you. I have left amongst you something that as long as you hold it, you will never go astray, the Kitab of Allah SWT. You shall soon be asked about me, so what shall you say? “ The Muslims responded: “We shall testify in front of Allah SWT that, you have conveyed the message and done your duty and that you were sincere.” Prophet SAW raised his hands to the sky and stated thrice “Oh Allah bear witness to what they have said”. - Continuation of the Hajj The Prophet SAW then lead the Muslims in Zuhur and Asar, after which he did Dua until Maghrib time. The Prophet SAW then lead the Muslims to Muzdalifah, where they performed Maghrib and a shortened Isha, that was preceded by 1 Azaan and 2 Iqama’s. The Prophet SAW then rested and performed Fajar at Muzdalifah and remained there until the sun had risen. During this time, the Prophet SAW was in intense Dua to Allah SWT. The Prophet SAW then lead the Muslims from Muzdalifah to Mina, where he threw 7 pebbles at the Jamrah whilst saying Allahu Akbar. The Prophet SAW then personally sacrificed 63/100 camels that Ali RA brought. Ali RA sacrificed the remaining 37. The Prophet SAW then ordered that, a piece be taken from each of the camels and cooked together. The meat was then consumed by the Prophet SAW and distributed to the poor. The Prophet SAW then went to the Ka’ba and prayed Zuhur and drank some Zamzam. The Prophet SAW then performed the remaining Hajj rites and spent 3 nights at Mina. CONTINUED IN PART 2 in same Comments section ========================================================== Disclaimer for my Notes of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Series: Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, these are my notes on Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah series. Ameen

Didn't he mention in one of his previous lectures that Abubakr r.a on his death bed commanded Ayesha r.a to take care of his two brothers and she wondered she had only one brother and later after Abubakr's death his wife Asma gave birth to a boy. Then why in this lecture he say that Asma (Abubakr's wife) gave birth during the time of Hajj and Rasool Allah S gave her instructions to be followed. Can anyone please explain?

The numerous narrations about Prophet Muhammad telling people not to delay the Greater Pilgrimage when it is made obligatory on him and other evidences of The Verse of Hajj being only in time for one Greater Pilgrimage to be done in the fashion of this age. People need to remember that no prophet spoke arabic before Muhammad; as it didn't really exist as something any Arabic speaker would recognize as Arabic of the time period of Prophet Muhammad or later. I have yet to meet an Arab who can read what the Arabs wrote at the time of the Biblical Prophets. There are good reason to think that during the farewell sermon included the two things said three ways instead of how most versions pick Quran and the way or Quran and my companions or Al Qoor'aan and the People of the House. Saying that the 12 or others lists were that they were the best people of their time indicates that aspect of Shia Islam is true and the Sunni are wrong in taking their scholars as superior. The sermon on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of the 12th month of could have also had variation. The same way that Arafat, Mina, and Muzdalifah has its place as a whole, people need to remember that Masjid al Aqsa is all of Mount Moriah and Medina's Masjid is more than the old building area. The requirements of al Hajj wa l `Umrah are shown in Quran. Other things are preferred to an example of something with benefit to just allowed. Ghidar Khum was closer to indication that Muhammad was to be one of the Khulfah, but the order isn't from what Prophet Muhammad taught; as he taught society to choose their leaders as we find out was done with Khalif 1, 4, and 5. Some narrations say Prophet Muhammad killed two animals that pilgrimage; others say that he sacrificed one for himself and one for each of his wives. This one where 100 camels race to compete to be of 63 camels killed and Ali klling 37 is something else! Islam teaches that hunting is the only time where animals are to be killed in front of each other and to otherwise hide the knife.
