I've been in April and it was great! I need to try the other seasons as well, though I'm not sure I'm ready for Summer in Japan yet. Hope they open things back up for tourists without guides soon!

On my mid November visit to Kyoto I hiked up to the mountain shrine of Mt Kurama and followed the trail down to Kibune. Possibly the most gorgeous part my trip to Japan; the leaf colors and the weather, everything was just so great! Unfortunately upon arriving in Kibune all the restaurants were just full and I couldn't get to eat in the area... but would love to come back!

My partner and I went to go here in winter because Google said it was open, drove all the way out and the area was pretty much deserted! We couldn’t find the place for ages until we saw the gate that matched the Google maps pic, but the restaurant behind it was gone! Turns out they only build it over the river in summer, Google lied to us 😂 was still a beautiful drive though and we went to that lovely shrine nearby too 😊

Last I was in Kyoto in Summer 2010! Stayed at a hostel for five nights next to a little hole in the wall restaurant with a black garage style door that just said "WHAT'S BEEF?" in white caps. It was one of my favorite places! So excited though, finally moving to Japan in two weeks!!! I can't wait =] Always lovely to see you enjoying yourself ♡ take care! P.S. was that kinako dango? :o looked delicious
