I only see it as a mild annoyance, I can't imagine it would at all be bad to use with K&M, and if it's not bad when we get to use it then I say it was a good choice. As it won't really impact pc and will instead improve console experience. (We won't really know until we get hands on with it.)

@@luxnoria What they have shown already has more clicks for common actions on M+KB than it is right now. So it may be better for console for PC there are only 3 good changes, the favorite button, ability to see 39 legendary hunters at once and same grid view with perks. They did add a whole standalone bloodbond packs tab in the home tab even though they have the plus near the BB count.

You see, this dev studio shows their hand with every blog post. They have ALL this data and yet they cant catch cheaters on their own. Even went as far to basically rip out all the actual anti-cheat measures and left a bare bones layer in the game.

Notice how the things they're removing gave you blood bonds. (Trials, black market, progression books) Now they're selling non legendary hunters for bbs, just another step on the slippery slope.

I thought it was also odd he stated one of the reason they were removing trials was because they had tracked data where people had told them he reason they quit playing Hunt was because of the trials. I was like huh? People gave you that as their reason for quitting the game? If that are what people are prioritizing for quitting the game over other things the devs have done with the game...I really question people's judgement and standards lol

The weird thing about naming the Uppermat the Haymaker is that the Uppercut isn't actually named after a punch. (Perhaps the original launch devs have moved on, or forgot?) It's named after the bronze ring around the end of the cylinder, which allows the gun to accommodate Long Ammo. The gunsmith _cuts_ into the _upper_ part of the cylinder and adds that bronze ring at the end to allow it to chamber longer rounds. Hence "Uppercut". Not that Uppermat wasn't an utterly retarded name, mind you.

This update is concerning. A lot of these changes make me think Feifield is doing a copypaste job of CoD into Hunt, and Hunt was already starting to move away from its origins.

What's funny is when the Uppermat first came out the devs were so defensive about the name and said they wouldnt change it lmfao. Haymaker was a fan suggestion for the name on reddit and then a portion of the community just called it the Haymaker. Ignoring some fan feedback is appropriate but it feels like every update Crytek adds something that only a tiny amount of people want. I'm sure it's the new management dragging their heels internally because they're mad the public didn't like their new ideas

It absolutely kills me to see them put in a fighter game style character select screen in place of the hunters screen. You can call me schizophrenic, but I’ve been saying for a long time now that hunt is beginning to lose its identity. So far we have only been climbing up the ladder, but with this ui update I think we have just reached the top of the slide.

As to the UI update, it's that CoD Hulu stuff I don't care for. When I played MW3 some time ago, I had to stop because the menus were so damn bad. I do not see a reason for them to focus this much on console players when they don't make up the bulk of the playerbase. At least give us an option to use a not-CoD UI.

i feel like the best way to summarise the ui change IMO is that they havent actually done anything really, YES they have changed but they havent made it any less confusing, after some time yes it might get better when you get used to it but the way i look at it is that its like a fridge the fridge we had was owercrowded with uneccesary stuff like bread, pasta, and moldy shoes ect, and instead of removing those and slightly streamlining the thing we are used to, they rearanged the ENTIRE FRIDGE and put less effort into the actual streamlining part, so now we have to get used to another ui which couldve felt 10x better

Whoever is in charge of UI/UX needs to be fired. In the beta 1.0 release you launched the game, clicked on roster, selected everything from one window, traits guns equipment everything, and then you pressed the red play button on the bottom right (in the same window still) to queue. In the current UI you have to go through 5 sub menus just to equip you primary, and looks like the new UI is gone be even more convoluted. If you told me back in 2015 that the UI is only gonna get worse throughout the years i would have called you crazy, yet here we are.

This reminds me of what happened to Blacklight Retribution 10 years ago. They had a good game, but they started patching it, preparing for a unified console-PC thingy. After the "parity patch" the whole game's UI looked like shit, the gunplay went full console and people slowly left the game, what lead to the closure of PC servers.

in console we already use the d-pad and shoulder buttons for everything, the cursor is only for the things on top of the screen like slot or ammo sice, game options, server and blood offer and the animation for the blood offer is censored the hunter dont cut his hand, the only thing i see as a real improvement is the option to favorite quirks and legendary hunters

Started ticking them all off and was enjoying getting progress but that's alright, I'm mostly there for the tense gunfights. Might just be me but the UI looks a lot more information dense. This might end up as a bit of a rant but I just wanted to get it off my chest. I see a lot of people (including your chat and on Reddit) hating on the changes Crytek made on the UI. And I don't understand why. Obviously most of the screens are way more clear than before. The trait screen is a major improvement because I don't have to scroll so long anymore and so is the hunter recruitment screen where I can now see most hunters on my screen at once. I see people calling it messy or overcrowded, but how else do you want to present 100+ items to the player? I think the grid view is sleek and clear and allows me to quickly find what I am looking for. Recreating the entirety of the UI of a game costs a lot of time and returns no money whatsoever, it shows that they care about the comfort and experience of the players. They could have instead made more skins and more money grab items but they chose to show the love for their product instead. I think, instead of hating on the UI and making jokes about how 'bad' it is. We should instead at least wait for the update to come out and experience it ourselves. I for one like to thank Crytek for the effort they put into making the new UI, so far I think it's a major improvement, although perhaps not perfect. I agree with the developers that the old UI was in fact outdated and I deeply appreciate their effort into making Hunt a better experience. Much Love a big fan

Newer is not always better. The UI is basically being designed specifically with console players in mind and will, as a result, probably be clunkier for keyboard and mouse. Trying to navigate cod menus has actually made me stop playing some of their games. We will see though.

I will obviously hold full judgement until I actually use the UI but overall I get what they are going for. I don't care if they carbon copy some other games/services layout if it works better, is easier and faster to use and still has all the necessary info that players need. The is a reason why a lot of services/games use UI's that look very similar, they seem to work. This UI does have some issues but I think it's nothing that cannot be fixed in time.

what we asked for - mainly things to speed up menu time to get us in games faster.. simplified menu's, preset health bars so we don't have to waste time respec'n the same bars every hunter purchase.. remove bug that won't let you remove a trait if it's filtered out. fix the issue where if you missclick the button to remove trait it takes you back to the lobby where the "remove trait" button is now the "dismiss hunter" button.. the ability to favorite traits.. or better yet, a way to set customized trait loadouts. have a list that it runs like a script. if you can't afford 1 of them, it skips to the next and runs down the list until reaching the end. simple quality of life changes. what we got - call of duty 2.0... a flow chart of clicks to get to things now.. over complication where it wasn't needed.. more hunters/skins (because we def needed those. currently at over 100 lego hunters).. pretty graphics that were unnecessary in a menu.

Personally, I don't care what it looks like aesthetically. It just needs to work. If it functions, fine. I didn't really have an issue with the current UI, but I am not on a console. So, if it makes things better for them and it still functions, go for it. I see some elements that could be improvements and some that could be questionable. Regarding the hunter recruitment changes: it seems like they are just recycling some of the rarer random skins to make money on bloodbonds. I hope that's not accurate, but it does seem lazy. I know that a lot of people, myself included have talked about some of those skins being very cool and would have wanted to be able to use them in some way (hunter customization perhaps?) but this seems kinda strange.

Removing trails completely was a dumb move imo. I've completed them all and there are lots of cool nits and bits about how to use weapons and tools correctly. Also they show you around compounds so you can learn their layouts. Very helpful for someone playing the game raw but whatever. I guess upgraded training mission will suffice.

i like the way it looks, it doesn't really bother me that the design choices factored in a little more for the console people. i care more whether or not the UI would be intuitive and not like MW2 which is practically a 1 to 1 recreation of the new UI. if they make you sit through menu animations and navigating multiple pop ups and mini menus to do one action, then it's fucked just like MW2

Idgaf personally, it looks fine visually to me, I'm concerned about potential ease of use issues for PC, but I don't have my hands on it so I can't be sure. Regardless, I don't expect anything to release in a perfect state in ANY live service title, quick iterations and improvements is what will count for me, should there be any actual impactful issues. One actual issue I can see at the moment is free hunter loadouts not being previewed all at once. Overall imo, some LARGE improvements, with some potential steps back in a place or two. I personally am sad to see trials go though, they helped me improve alot when I was starting out and I enjoyed the problem solving some of them incentivized, nowadays I still use them to warm up and practice my aim with moving targets, which is what I will miss most, seeing as they've stated there are no plans for moving targets in shooting range.

i feel like its good for console but this change removes the charm of the game (like the books), and what made it a little unique. i feel like the whole stats thing and different filters for searching is fine but i feel like that the ui should stay the mostly same for pc.

I like the menu we have already, I like the big traits (because I like the splash arts), I HATE the weapons roster and the new one is way better, but the rest? Pure trash, the hunters new menu is terrible man, you see a lot of hunters miniatures and when you click them, no hunter entrance animation

We let you see more traits on screen without scrolling (good) but guess what? Now you're allowed to see cca 4 hunters on one screen in roster menu (but why?) so keep scrolling if you have big roster, please I'd like to understand o.O (no hate just confusion)

Tbh its much better than what it currently has going. But the bright side is that you dont have to shuffle thru 20 cod games to get the one you want to play. Edit console player. Cant stand the menus guess unpopular opinion lol

Baking trial skins into other mechanics is kind of a spit in the face to people who did all the trials. They way they did hunters and traits is really good. Having to scroll through legendary hunters to find the ones you liked sucked ass.

I haven't played any of the CoD's. Nevertheless, I am aware that this is one of the most popular game franchises in the world. People who take the new UI with hostility because it looks like CoD, can they finally explain why this is bad? Calmly, in a nutshell and without spraying poison?

Its seen as part of the slow and inevitable dumbing down of the game, Hunt has a reputation as a tough as nails, unforgiving and punishing fps, to attract more players, crytek has been making incremental changes here and there that seem to be pushing the game towards a more casual crowd. As I say its kind of inevitable as crytek want more people playing Hunt and ultimately spending more money in it, its just sad to see it happen in real time I guess and I think its why people are eyeing any change with caution and hostility. Hopefully Hunt doesn't lose its core identity too much (I don't think it will) but if they add pc controller aim assist, im out lol

So... at 1.0 they made the UI overly complicated, didn't bother taking the time to make it better in the literal YEARS they had to do so, kept adding more content to have more tabs and pages for.... and NOW they want to simplify it again? Do you need to go lie down, Crytek?

I keep telling people that they're making it into Cowboy Call of Duty but nobody wants to listen.. The dumb central caches in the last event were literally just air drops and they keep trying to make this game faster and faster. Let Hunt go back to how it was!

They've likely hit a cap in their growth regarding pc players, if they want to keep getting bigger, they need a console relaunch and to push that. Probably with crossplay. It's a good business move. Is it not so great for pc? Yeah. Is it likely going to have major oversights of features we currently have, also yeah. But it's a good move. I just wish they weren't so slow. They should be able to push out changes every couple months, not once every few years.
