idk man... the video personally feels to me like its just an announcement like most devs would do. they personally made the video imo to just announce that they know and just to aware the audience, to basically counter the arguments that "they dont respond" and theyll use this as a scape goat..... personally like i said i quit way before these issues ever occured, but seeing this i can only watch your content to even see if they did change it.... but for now i see this really as more so just bullshot or again just a cope video for people to quell their anger..... its up to you or anyone when it comes to the video but here is my saying "Never forget" Never forget who crytek is, and what they have done with thier behavior in terms of patterns in terms of the health of the game and the community

So far, these weekly updates have heaps of defensiveness and a sprinkling of apology. An issue must be absolutely out of control before it is even lightly acknowledged as an issue by Crytek. -Nearly every game since the end of the event contains players whose Steam profiles have bans on record and who are not in the US, while playing in US servers. -It's pretty rich for Crytek to frame the events as a continuum that improved their "learnings" when together these events spanned YEARS and zero adjustments were made during events. -That was a really long way for them to explain how the "report" button doesn't work. How is the current manner of actually reporting not acknowledged as downright embarrassing? Overall, they had a chance to offer some hope here, but these defensive, scripted responses, heavy with buzzwords and light on specifics, do not engender trust or share much vision for Hunt's future. --Glockness Monster (3000 hours)

In reference to the discussion at 11:30 I suspect that we won't be getting a message like " you reported hacker_29 and hacker_29 was banned for walling" Instead I expect we will get " A player you reported has been banned", which is unlikely to break GDPR because it does not explicitly produce data about a specific person. I am no lawyer but I doubt inferences are included in the legal document. If Inferences are included in the document, then a fairly easy method to sidestep that issue is to simply not produce a message if only one person has been reported and instead require a minimum number of reported players.

A anti-cheat for packet manipulation is the most basic of anti cheat software which news flash EAC already does this, that's literally what it's designed to do they just extended a filter on it and made it sound like they're doing something. After how many times they said they were working on a anti-cheat and getting a team together only to tell us "we've improved EAC" is slap in the face, anti-cheat counter measures do not exist in hunt showdown period. They still rely on player reports which only show screenshots of game-play that you would have to catch something so blatantly obvious with it while utilizing such a ridiculous system for reporting. In order to fight against aimbots and wallhacks you fight AI with AI so make a AI that spectates and monitor players. The technology exists but not in hunt showdown.

I wish they'd give us a kill cam to look at to actually see the enemies POV for the last 5 seconds before they killed you so you can see if they saw you or how it went down. The kill view is useless

The lack of a commitment to implementing replays is a massive detriment to catching cheaters. Team Fortress 2 added replay support in 2011. There is a 13 year time gap between then and now. If Valve could do it over a decade ago, there's no reason Crytek can't do it now. Replays are absolutely essential to effectively catching cheaters.Telling players to spectate a suspected cheater without the benefit of replay is just insulting.

Crytek think they fix something but they always do in a sht way and usually does not fix, they are amateurs.

"Spectate before reporting" My team got headshot through a mound of dirt by a [][][][][] player and when we spectated, they would just crouch and hide in a bush. We'd cycle through the other players and come back to this one player and he'd be moving again, but as soon as we'd spectate, he'd stop, crouch and hide in a bush. We did this multiple times until the game ended and he just extracted. CLEARLY HE KNEW WE WERE SPECTATING.

I think that they are acknowledging the cheating is a great step forward. They are not denying that there is cheating so this is a good step forward. Catching these cheaters and eliminating cheating is a tall task for sure. It has always been crazy for me to think that people need to cheat in a video game. I wouldn’t even want to…. No fun in that…. That being said if Crytek can make an impact eliminating the cheaters I welcome it for sure. Again they are looking at it so that can’t be a bad thing.

Problem is reporting cheaters doesn't work. Even reporting via website with video doesn't work. There is a known cheater who is friends with the some of the Crytek staff, still allowed in the Discord.

They used to give pretty detailed reports on cheater bans a couple years ago. It was somewhere around 500 bans a month when the player base was only around 15K concurrent players.. Then they just stopped doing it.

From what I understand the main issue with the attributes file was that they data was being collected/collated and uploaded to 3rd party run sites, which meant that players (in particular EU players who are under GDPR) had no way to opt in/out on allowing that data being used outside of the game/steam environment. You could also use said data to essentially track a players play habits, who they played with, time frames they played during, game modes they played it, etc... This was true even if they had their stats hidden in game. Is that in violation of GDPR? Could that data be used to identify someone? Maybe, I'm not a lawyer. What I think is that because the EU takes GDPR very seriously, Crytek was more on the "better safe than sorry" side of it and just nuked it before someone actually decided to sue or report it as a GDPR violation.

Also the european laws cover personal information and I can't imagine that a random steam name or account that you voluntarily put out there on the internet would mean anything in court. They just looking for excuses at this point.

True, I read somewhere that someone got hold of private info on someone with the help of attributes.xml so it served as an excuse for them to remove the api data exporting, which in turn destroyed stats tracking and the ability to see leaderboards top players and their amazing scores.

My guess is it will be similar to the way Blizzard does it. The next time you log into the game a pop-up comes up letting you know they took action against the account you reported. Again I'm not holding my breath on anything they say. I'll have to wait & see how it is once all this goes into effect.

They are kneecapped by a shoestring budget and are desperate to pull in a wider more casual player base. Anti cheat engineering is very advanced and the talent cost is high and made higher with the less ubiquitous Cryengine. They obviously need to keep the game alive but for that to happen and hopefully even grow they have a giant mountain to climb. It’s possible. The attributes file removal is still stupider as fuck

Whoever had your retaliation idea was a good idea. It limits how easily it is to get your bar back but makes it still possible. I've always thought a team wipe should give you something to get your bars back.Like maybe once you had a full teams "dog tags" or something, then you can go somewhere to get bars back. That way it's never for free, but you can earn bars back. I always hated getting into a long fight with a trio, winning but being down several bars, so now with 75 hp it's too risky to go challenge the bounty team because they're all full health with long ammo and I may have had a successful fight with a trio, but wasn't rewarded for the victory.

26:06 I actually put this in as a suggestion in the official discord almost 2 years ago.... Ive never gotten so many thumbs down. Personally I think it is a great idea. But I do not think you should be able to receive all of it because then there is literally 0 punishment for dying as long as your team mate is able to res you or as a solo you get a lucky necro while your opponents are not paying attention. I DO think that there should be a limit. Like you can get a MAX 25-50hp chunk back for they entirety of the game. Once you have reclaimed it once you have to banish a boss in order to get them back again and it DOES NOT reset your ability to loot it back. I think retaliation is almost useless imo because lets say you end up winning a game where you get your retaliation points back you will probably end up level 21-31 anyway and have many points to spend regardless. ping is not fair like he doesnt realise that the only reason they do this is bc people keep crying about it sure its unpleasant to verse somebody on high ping but its not good for the other person either and THE REGISTER IS THE SAME ON THE PERSON WITH HIGH PING AS SOMEONE WITH LOW PING however for the person with ping there is such thing as a blank shot when the shot hits the body and blood comes out but no hit was registered which is only for the person on high ping

No. NVPI is a 3rd party program that gives access to settings/features in the driver that are not accessible through the official Nvidia Control Panel or the game settings.

great video! when they were speaking about the reporting issue/solution, I think just providing a pop up letting the players know that they have acted on a recent report the player submitted, is more than sufficient. They also use this widely in other games. Of course, if you dont report often, you may end up knowing who it was, but, that feels like uncommon, and satisfying knowledge to have, imo. Nevertheless! glad to see crytek FINALLY engaging with community outcry on important topics. Till the next video.

8:30 100% the tool should be able to extract all the data needed automatically. It should IMO also give you a ticketnumber, in which you can type in, to add additional information, LIKE a video on the website. That way you can still report as normal, but in cases you have clearcut videos or something like that, you add it to. Or additional comments.

Another point on GDPR (I am a sw dev, have to deal with it every day) - What is important here is what we call PII - Personaly Identifyable Information. Stats are such type of data (unfortunately). At the same time, it would be easy to use the "hide stats" to not dump PII data about that player, by replacing the player name (identification link) with * hidden * or something like that. We would still have the stats and game info, without identifying players who opt out.

I am also guessing for a company the size of Crytek, the GDPR decisions don't come from Crytek but from a GDPR specialized law firm that was briefed about their user's game data.

I hope they keep that ping thing true and don't end up lying and changing it that would still let people play that have high ping. The number of times I've come across someone that is from the other side of the world and died... is annoying. I have friends from all over the world, and it sucks when you can't play games with them. The steam name is public, idk why that law should apply here when it comes to the files. Also, let's hope they do start releasing how many people they ban per month, too. It helps know if the reporting is actually doing its work or not. Overall, nice video! I am glad crytek is finally talking about cheaters. I really hate the statement don't rage report but also we are given no tools to remove guess work. Imagine how much the reporting system would be improved if a kill cam of say 5-7 sec before being killed was available to view back in lobby for every death. We could report the clip and the crytek team would have all the info they could need. The only issues I had with ping were the cases where I died behind cover, trading at this point I have just come to accept it but dying behind cover should not be happening.

long time Player here. Restore healthchunks is needed. Not to make the game easier. But to keep players in the missions after they had a fight and one mate lost a bar and boss is already banished. I mean its obvious that you gonna leave thr mission most of the time, cause you have a huuuge :) disadvantage when you go in on a fight with lost bars. you might be a oneshot.

I think the idea behind retaliation is too passive. I think it NEEDS to be something you actively have to do. Maybe it give you a token to spend at an altar on the map or something... but one thing I always enjoyed about remedy and the health bar pack was the tension of choosing to disengage from a fight. You are risking your teammates dying, bounty getting away or the chance to get ambushed by another team. I think getting your bar back mid fight doesn't have any trade off for the player. It definitely feels great when it happens, but it is an unenjoyable experience for other players fighting you. I thnk having the health back being an active thing you do, also makes it so these are scenarios other teams have to consider. For instances, say you see 1 person from a trio disengaging to get their health back. This may initiate an opportunity to push while they are a man down. It just makes the game a lot more dynamic this way.

10:55 The automated system will only tell you if someone got banned that you reported. They won't tell you names or profiles or anything else. Or which report specifically. So it doesn't break any GDPR rule. Overwatch did the same thing.

I'm by no means an expert, but I'm from the UK and have had a few hours training in some of the finer points of GDPR for my IT job (again NOT a lawyer). TLDR, I'm a huge proponent of GDPR, but the issue is more caused by the way Crytek doesn't have a good report feature. My understanding is that your SteamID technically IS personal data, and therefore protected under GPDR, because it's possible to identify someone through e.g. their profile - it does NOT have to be DIRECTLY identifiable. Why it took them this long, to deal with this IF it really is an issue, I'm really not sure. Which as Huuge said, logically it seems that IF it's the SteamID that is the problem and not something else in the file, then the reporting feedback would have to be generic along the lines of 'Nice one, your report removed a cheater from the game, thanks'. To be clear though, I'm not defending Crytek, it's insane that the in game report doesn't already collect this data. I don't code games, but I know from working on mobile apps that this data is RIDICULOUSLY easy to auto add to a report/email function. AFAIK it's genuinely just adding a couple of lines of code to auto populate part of the email/report.

I think bar restoration can be at carts (and boss banishing ofc) and no more. When you kill someone and they get up you should have a distinct advantage over that person. Allowing them to get up and restore lost bars within that fight because your teammate is bad or for whatever reason is bad gameplay that punishes making good decisions and playing well (by getting the first kill).

(still in the middle of the video) - but I suggested a long time ago to a Crytek dev, that whenever a player that I reported gets banned, why don't they give me a window that pops up on my main screen saying something SUPER generic "An account that you reported had action taken against it. Thank you for reporting" or something like that. This way we KNOW that Crytek actual does ban and suspend accounts and it wouldn't feel like the report button was useless. The individual basically said that violates privacy laws (which it does not as far as I'm aware because it doesn't even have to say WHO was banned, just that SOMEONE was banned). Now it's being added so I'm thinking that's probably the route they're going with.

I used to play Dota way back when and that's how they did it. They even had random invites to review player behavior to determine if someone was toxic or suspicious. I think that's a cool way to do it, because then you're reviewing someone else's gameplay too and not just your own. Took some of the bias out and the responsibility went around to the community too.

I am a software developer for more than 30 years, and I have a different view on "no platform account". There is no way they would want this door to be open, as 1) They are spending money to fix "fair play". 2) cheaters hurt the game player base and revenue. 3) Its bad press to leave such things available to be exploited. I personally do not feel like I run into a lot of hackers. I do feel like I'm running into a lot of exploiters. On multiple occassions in the last months, I've been spotted in places where I absolutely should not have been spotted by the person that killed me. Most of the time when I hear them coming from a distance due to birds/ducks or other sound traps and attempt to ambush them. Only to get instant headshot despite being in cover, not moving or making any sound. After spectating those players it became obvious they saw more then they should be seeing. At first I thought ESP/Wallhacks, but after spectating them for longer it became obvious they did not see people behind or in buildings. I couldn't figure out why this was happening until I just saw this profile inspector exploit being an issue in the video. Yeah, this is straight up an exploit, which in my opinion (just my opinion not a fact) feels worse then actual hacking as it, seems to me, way more widespread then straight up hacking. This to me explains a lot of my deaths over the course of the last couple of months, where I genuinely do not understand how they were able to spot me with a scopeless weapons, through 7 trees worth of foliage from over 100 meters away. This also explains how a lot of people in certain compounds/area's were able to spot me through little cracks in building at an absurd frequency. Personally, again just my opinion, this feels way more commonplace then hackers. I'd like to see this get banned as a possiblity to see (after it's been banned) if my experience with the game suddenly improves. In case you are interested what this looks like look up the video from TheHiredGunTv called NVPI Abuse In Hunt: Showdown - shows absolutely perfectly what it does and after seeing that I 100% believe this is how I've been getting killed so much more often then usual.

If the new engine only improve the blurry mess their antialiasing is I will be happy. Them blocking the sharpening in reshade might not sound like a big deal but the clarity it added was dramatic for my old eyes, it went from being a 1800's blurry faded news paper to a full color 2020's centerfold and absolutely effected my enjoyment of the game directly. So skins where you are invisible if you don't move is ok but me being able to see clearly isn't? Then they added all the can't see or hear weather on top rewarding creepers even more. If everybody played Hunt for what Crytek mechanics rewarded we would all be sitting in bushes or buildings waiting for 70% of the match, not my idea of fun which is why I haven't played in a year.

Because if not, cheatings hasn't seen any notable impact from this change, however im not 100% sure but a quick search shows epic games anti cheat has Kernel level protection. you would expect to see a bigger impact if that is the case. im hoping that all these changes are for the 5.11 version coming in August.

We can't just gloss over when they do address issues and only focus on existing issues. As for as automated messaging letting you know when a report you filed resulted in a ban or suspension - PUBG does the same thing, they don't tell you the account it applied to, just that a report you filed had resulted in action. I think GDPR, though a good thing for consumers, is a real PITA for organizations and is often legally murky terrain due to how new it is.

There are contend creators have good run while showing fps and ping, then switching to a clip the data is not visible but you see enemys rubberbanddance and a bulllet travels 5 seconds in melee range. nice if this ends. Well... in my office i got three hunt able pc´s, so if i go in with just two of it simultainly random 1v3, the system in 95% put both players in the same server. so i let one die and stay ingame and was able to switch other players in spectator mode. its not even a cheat. its nowhere forbidden play on two pc´s. spectator mode has to be reworked too. Is there any problem to agree new terms form crytek allow them to use their data against chaters?

When it comes to restored health chunks I do think there has to be a 1 time thing that gives even just 1 bar back at least, besides doing the boss. I actually enjoyed the games where during a fight my friend could escape and get all our HP back so we could fight again at bounty. Having that second chance has felt really nice to have and in multiple BR`s it has proven to be a great defining factor in how well received a game is. PUBG never had it but fortnite and apex did, they both did better because it was more accessible to new players (it wasn't THE factor but it was part of it for sure). I stand by them adding some way to get HP back but it must be balanced so it doesn't become annoying.

i can't even log into the main website to report. i have 3 cheaters pending in a file on my desktop with video evidence and screenshots but as soon as i try to log into the little red login button on the lower right on the main website were you login to report , the window for reporting doesn't pop up anymore for like 3 weeks it is broken now, idk if they shaddowbanned from it or what i haven't done much reporting on the main maybe in total 10 - 12 reports, but yeah ??? The ping claims are ridiculous. The ping problem affects both sides. Both! I live in Siberia and sometimes play on the East Coast server. My ping is 160. It's not easy for me to hit with that ping at a long distance.

while i like the idea of ping caps ie stopping china cheaters, i also play witha 170-180 ping from OCE to US West, while im used to it and will never be considered a decently good player, a cap of anything lower would end hunt for me as OCE servers are often dead, Weapon inspection is something i dont like and it needs a cool down so streamers dont spam it, its a pain in the ass seeing a weapon inspect spammed for 15 minutes between shots

I honestly don't care about those few people that want to play together and have a ping between them higher than 250ms which is the limit atm. How anyone can feel entitled to play an online Shooter with a ping higher than 100ms is beyond me. Sooo, I am not to report a player that beat me because of higher skill, but only after I know, he's a cheater? How would I know, if the player was just lucky or else? After all, the "average player skill" has been through the roof as of late. I always thought it was the purpose of a report system, that I could use it, no matter if I'm shure or not and Crytek is to find out wether he is cheating or not? I mean how do I watch another player when there e.g. are no opponents left for him to fight? Furthermore, they want to make fights more definitive while also giving more opportunities to restore your health? This kinda sounds like an either or decision. Honestly, I am a fan of restoring health (and I'm not a new player, I just hate it, if I fight 2 out of 3 enemy teams and then have to extract without facing bounty, cuz my health is at 100, thank you very much). I would like a mechanic kinda like during the event, that my team has to have killed an enemy player before beeing able to restore health. This is NOT about making the game easier, but rather about still beeing able to fight, after killing all teams except one. I dislike the burn traits period. This game does not need even more random shit. I'm against to only do this on retaliation kills, that shit is random AF, rather a "pledge mark" that only persists for the current game. Or even a freaking consumable, I don't give a shit, but it's fairly obvious, you can't go for the banish, when team number 4 is banishing the 1 boss at Catfish while my team is fighting the rest of the server at blanchet graves. Maybe limit the use of the return bars mechanic to 1 use per team per match? Also they should NEVER return the red skull mechanic without bounty, that shit was crazy. Although I disagree with you on a few specifics, I appreciate your work, so thank you Huuge.

On the ping limits and ping abuse topic specifically, I think you dropped your persistent skepticism towards crytek on this topic without a good reason and are probably expecting a lot more restriction than they will be actually doing. All they really confirmed is that you won't be able to use friends to queue into opposite sides of the world, which (from my experience) is very rare anyway. I don't really think they will make a significant change to ping limits, maybe tighten them a little but I am personally of the belief that the difference that ping makes in hunt is relatively small. I understand that dying just slightly after you duck back into cover is very frustrating and that the large trade window they added a while back doesn't necessarily feel good, I totally agree that the game feels noticeably better without these hiccups, but these aside I don't think high ping players (lets say up to 200ms) make a server noticeably worse. They could tighten up those issues a bit, that wouldn't be too bad maybe. I think the main thing to focus on is the anticheat, since the cheating foreign players spilling into other regions is a pretty clearly awful thing.

That GDPR excuse is just bs lol, not an expert either but like you saw that regulation is meant to protect user sensitive information, like your address, phone number, your name, or any other personally identifiable information (PII). Your steam information doesn't show any of that unless you explicitly configure steam to show your name and where you live. The profile file didn't have that kind of information afaik
