I completely get you, music brings me through every emotion, but always leaves me better in the end.. couldn't live without it! And yeah, every single word of this song... it feels as if it was written for me, or by me, and the way Shaun sings it, the emotion he puts into it, you can feel that he's singing from his own personal experiences. This is arguably my favorite video of this song as well. Not sure if it's because he's in SA or singing in front of his family, but it just sounds so much better than most other live performances on videos that I've seen, even with the audience's singing. lol I'm super grateful this guy uploaded it though. I've watched it heaps over the years, but never commented till I saw yours and kinda felt compelled to.

This song was my old band mates favorite song for the longest time, would always bang on about it, we loved it also. Fast forward a few years, he's gone to University and I hadn't heard from him in a while, only to have harrowing news that he was found hanging in his dorm room last year. When I hear this song now all I can do is lookup and smile while crying simultaneously at how sad I am to have lost my friend and wished I could've been there for him in his time of need, but can't help but feel he's playing this up somewhere in the clouds watching over us to make sure we do nothing silly. We miss you Max, we loved you so much, I'll never forget you and will forever play this song in your memory. Rest in peace Max - 2000-2021 Alex 2004-2021 Love you both, fly high

5 months late, but my condolences to you. It's never easy losing a friend or family to anything, especially suicide. You could say music saved my life in a way. Wishing nothing but the best for you and your loved ones.

100% agree. As a musician myself it’s not the cord missed or the difference in key as artists play their hearts out for others. No matter the artist, the song, arrangement, or whether it’s a song of their catalog or a cover. It’s the ability of the artist to be able to on the fly snap of a finger switch things up or to keep the song solid despite a mistake or even a broken cord. Shows he talent actually to arrange it for a solo acoustic for a specific event.. Implore all to watch the video of Mitch and Rich Robinson from the black crowes doing thorn in my pride acoustic. It’s labeled as brothers of a feather concert thorn in my pride. Watch him snap a cord continue for three mins till a place to pause that arrangement for a three second guitar swap only to continue the last three or so mins of the jam!

All people could say is negative things about how he got fat and died, but what they fall to realize is, we all harbor and deal with our pain in different ways. I can't claim to know what the song's meaning is in terms of what was intended by those who wrote it, all I can give is my own interpretation; but I feel strong vibes pointing towards heavy depression (For the record, I'm talking about clinical depression and not simply the feeling of loss or mourning, or just being in a bad spot in life that causes someone to feel down). Feeling little self-worth, the feeling of not belonging, feeling undeserving of what one has, feeling like a failure, feeling like you're being disingenuous to the world (possibly by hiding all the inner turmoil threatening to boil over and acting like everything is okay), being unable to face yourself and come to terms with who you are; your mortality; the reason for your existence in a chaotic; ever-changing world, and recognizing you have a problem, but are seemingly unable to fix it, either because you don't know how to or that you don't have the wherewithal to continue struggling against it anymore.
