I know that a lot ancient deities have been turned in modern times or during times of Christianity into demons or the devil. For example, Hades is often referred to as Satan in modern times. Even though he was never evil, he was always fair and just. Even in the bible, Tarturus was mentioned. Another example would be Anubis. Anubis is also referred to as either Satan or a demon. And here's another fantastic example, that is Lucifer itself. You may say, Lucifer? Lucifer is the real name of Satan. Lucifer was an ancient Roman God. He was known as the light bringer, the God of the northern star. He, too, apparently wasn't evil. Maybe this is another one, but who truly knows.
