My Gramma got me a Sega Genesis that came with Sonic 2 for Christmas of 92. Loved that system still play it till this day. Mine was the then brand new model 2 Sega Genesis ( new compact design)

My grandma still has a Sega Genesis from '92. And it still works! So do all of the games too. I still have mine too, but it's a Genesis 3 that is from '97. It also still works cuz it's newer.

The real problem is Not Many Sega Fan's are demanding a new SEGA console i bet you if there was a whole bunch of request's sega could consider it but they need to stop rushing consoles just to prove they can do better bit's than the next company you see how they put out a 16 bit console before nintendo and used the "commercial's" to show it off than the first "Real" 64 bit before the n64 or Ps1 then the first 128 bit see the pattern they rushed them and payed the price.

Sega could just do a sony and put Super Security on Firmwares but i guess it'd end up worsening it OR they could make a Stand alone console with no Outward features besides DVD and CD players and make a Highly Encryptable Disc preventing any hacking and sell it for 199 but they've been losing Morale ;| really i didn't care all about the dreamcast when it came out i was a Full Nintendo person in 98 but i had a genesis only to play Phantasy star and some other good title's.

I know about the Euro market but this is the Genesis not the "Mega Drive" beside's Nintendo was focusing on the US for port's mostly they negated most of the popular game's like final fantasy and even megaman 6 in europe... NOW it's europe 2nd then America last... Look i don't know why sega gave up on the dreamcast it had some potential what i am thinking is because of the Homebrew access since you could burn games illegally but the wii's been hacked to 4.3 and they still ship em...

I bet you sega had Payed those kid's SOME DAMN Money to do that commercial they didn't sound too convinced about the genesis even though the genesis isn't a complete failure like the 32x and CD it only got it's share of sale's from false commercial's which in turn doomed them from making anything over the dreamcast because We as the gamer's are smarter we have the net to see if a console is pure crap(vita) in the end note.The only 2 good thing's about this video was it had SOR2 and S2 that's it.

You should do your parents a favor and tell them you want a Genesis instead. I'm sure they will be very happy to save some money. They could buy you a used Genesis and several games for a lot cheaper than the PS3 without any games. Something like $200-250 cheaper.

Wow I never saw any American video game ads like this before in my whole life. The kid was so lucky to receive a Sega Genesis (known as Sega Mega Drive in Japan, the UK, my home country Ireland, the rest of Europe, Australia and New Zealand and the rest of the world as well) for Chrimbo. I know Sega Genesis is the name for Sega Mega Drive in the USA 🇺🇸 and Canada 🇨🇦.

I don't think SEGA was actually expecting Nintendo to release the SNES. I think they though everyone would abandon the NES and flock to the MD. I guess one way for SEGA to notice the demand for a new console is something along the lines of a FB page. Even then, you'd need it to be in the millions and try sway the premature "hardcore" gamers. SEGA rushed their consoles because they were losing money. Fast.

@NoriesW You have a long way to go and a lot of money to spend. In the mean time download kega fusion and the complete sega genesis/mega drive rom set(both are free), and get a pc game controller and play away on a pc. By having all of the games that came out for the console on your computer you can sift through the good and the bad games, and then just get the games that you like. I used to have quite a bit of games for the genesis(I still do have some games), but now I just play them on a pc.

@supercrapnstuff11 i think its really the games that provide the bases of shit... take call of duty and halo for example, because of those games the online services are full of annoying piece of shit little kids that think their xbox/ps3 is the greatest console ever made. Then you have the actual masterpiece games on the systems that ensure me that the state of gaming isnt down the shitter just yet.... games like uncharted, where the developers dont milk the series for money like call of duty.

@FractalBolt lol, but I think the commercial said that because, genuinely speaking, it could be misleading. I'm pretty sure the kids knew that the cartridges came separately but since this is a promotion they might have thought that this Genesis comes with those 4 cartridges. Sometimes there were stores that actually sold the Genesis with an extra game or two. One thing I learn in Law school is that one should never leave anything vague; to the interpretation of another. Hence, the disclaimer.
