+TheLegendofRenegade 29:42 is my instant fave, but I may be biased because the (kind of final) stage in which it plays is extremely awesome. - In any case, thanks Dustin for finally (I sorta remember this being a long long request of mine among others, I could be mistaken though) helping us to listen to this with a proper rip. The difference with emulated sound is massive on this one, even for a poor ear such as mine.

Never played this game. Was simply browsing for music from games I am not familiar. Well, I can tell Japanese games had far more complex music compositions, with more intricate effects. Variety in the sound, modulations, chords. It uses EVERYTHING on Sega's sound hardware. It uses from 4 to all 6 FM's YM2612, uses PSG Master System to its full, and PCM for all sort of beat samples. Absolutely impressive stuff! I am learning from it to make my own 16-bit compositions. Very inspiring. P.S. "My Kingdom" is creepy as hell.

This game cover is awesome! It just exudes so much personality! You get an idea of what kind of characters the two heroines are based on their stances and facial expressions. The American cover is so dull and uninteresting by comparison with its two generic scantily clad beach models that have no distinctive characteristics. Did the localizers of this game seriously look at the new cover and think to themselves "Yep. Ours is much better"? I feel the same way about the covers of Landstalker and El Viento. Now I'm not saying that American Covers are always bad (I actually like the American cover for Contra Hardcore better than its Japanese counterpart), but if you are going to make a different cover for a game at least make it actually resemble what the game is like and try to actually make it better. Have the artist actually play the game and use the original cover and character concepts as reference material.

+Gender Neutral Chibi Thing They're both out of service at the moment. The VA3 died an untimely death that I haven't been able to repair... or even diagnose, and the other one, a VA6, is being used for experimentation purposes (that is, it's open right now, and missing an amplifier). I could actually still record from the VA6 the same way I was recording before, bypassing the amp, but it's a hassle--especially when my Mega Amp'd recording machine is good to go--I actually have two of them. I am thinking about taking the 2612 out of the dead VA3 and seeing if I can build it + another Mega Amp into another Model 2 I have that's not currently doing anything to take its place. To see it live on, in spirit. I don't know, however, if hand-soldering bus wires to the 2612 will actually work and be stable, though.

Which one is the VA6?

Gender Neutral Chibi Thing VA6 is a late one, just before they redesigned the sound circuitry (and made it terrible). I've only uploaded one game's soundtrack with it, Rocket Knight Adventures. All the other Model 1 recordings on this channel are the old VA3.

Then why do you want to use the MegaAmp on it? Won't it make the YM2612 sound worse?

I don't want to use the mega amp on it--I do want to use it on a model 2 with a transplanted 2612 (which would get you a near identical experience & save me from buying another Model 1). The VA6 is basically for "experiments."

Because of how the market was, they had a priority on the male demographic ranging from young kids to teens. If it wasn't something that was going to appeal to them, they didn't bother.

@@DKen2021 That was more of a silly assumption by marketers back then than anything. Same kind of 'logic' that messed up games like Ghoul School on the NES.

Why does this recording sound less grating than other recordings of the same soundtrack? Is it the amp mod? Sounds great, and what a soundtrack!
