I'm honestly surprised Bare Knuckle 3 Project wasn't showcased on here, and while yes I'm aware that SOR hacks have saturated the pool of Genesis romhacks, it's still one of, if not, THE most impressive hack for Streets of Rage, since it manages to add all 9 playable characters from the trilogy into the third installment and uses the Japanese version with the English patch, thus making it the definitive way to play SOR3.

I rented Kid Chameleon a few times when it was new and had some looooooooong play sessions with it. Definitely one of those where you paused it and turned off the tv for meals and other forced activities. Probably at least a top 10 platformer on the system, certainly one of the most unique and creative and it felt like it went on forever. The music is the definition of Genesis music, kind of scary metallic sounding but I still like it.

It took me two days to finish it. It would be awesome if that Phantasy Star hack was expanded to include an auto-mapping feature like the Sega Ages version on the Switch. As great as the Sega Ages version was, it still used the original translated script that contained many errors. If the improved translation of the hack were combined with the improved gameplay of the Sega Ages version, it would probably result in the ultimate way to play Phantasy Star.

Looks like there's a project going on for Wachenroder! You can find some info online on it now. As for Mega-CD - sadly, it's apparently about the tools; meaning, there are none. That's why nothing has been done for it so far. I'd love any version of Illusion City to be finished really, MSX, PC98 or Mega-CD. I also heard Shadowrun was WIP, but no idea how far along it is, especially with the tool issues. I'd say SMT is the least likely to ever happen, due to other translations out there.

I'd love a video about Sonic rom hacks, there are many quite original games in them, including one by the creator of Sonic 3D Blast. Here are some of my recommandations : -Sonic 1 Color Blast, a game that gives more space to exploration in brand new acts for the original Sonic 1 zones, the goal being of restoring colours and sounds by finding them scattered around black and white mute zones. -Sonic and Tals in Paynt, just because it voluntarily was made to be the worst hack possible for laughs and it's hilarious how it is so bad, it's good and a great parody of rom hacks. -Doctor Robotnik's creature capture, a quite original hack with brand new original gameplay where you must play as Robotnik trying to capture by himself the animals to put in his capsules with a butterfly net. -Mobius Evolution, a rom hack with both Sonic and Blaze as playable characters with brand new zones and acts and even level mechanics inspired by the master system/game gear version of Sonic 2. Great visuals and even new bosses. -The S Factor : Sonia and Silver, one of my favourite because of its completely unique playable characters considering their playstyle, excellent soundtrack, great if a bit too hard new bosses and visuals. There is even in the options the ability to change the color and music of the main menu. I especially enjoy its original special stages that revolve around doing certain things each time in a same special stage that shows more facets of its level design while having the pressure of time and water that drain away your necessary rings vital to continue the stage. -Sonic 2 Retro Remix, An original hack of Sonic 2 with new levels and even moves from Sonic Advance/Sonic Rush. The goal is to collect 95 chaos emeralds across both levels and the brand new hub world. At the start of each level, hints are given to their wherabouts, and a SA2 Knuckles emerald detector helps you locate them. There is even secret bosses here. -Sonic Boom (the hack), a very short hack but gosh will its speed and frantic action put you on your toes with an overdosis of adrenalin. A single three acts zone, but with an excellent soundtrack of genesis remixes of video game tracks (most of which can only be heard in the sound test), new moves, accelerated speed, new bosses, sprites and ennemies. And who can forget that very iconic third act that will make you have the biggest "GO GO GO!!!!" moment of your life, your hands sweating and a concentration spike so huge you can't even talk. Very much fun if a bit too hard. -And finally, CrazySonic, greatest hack of them all, a so great hommage to masterpieces like Crazybus, Hong Kong 97 and Desert Bus. The level select screen is alon worth your time. Play as a bus for the biggest most hilarious troll game of all times. Do I need to say more?
