Love the obscure Master System cards and you have a nice set. In Europe we got so many more titles released - you mention Super Tennis being the only Tennis game there. We got Wimbledon over here and many other great titles released long after the Master System died in the US. One of my favourite systems and great to see it get some love from you both!

I'm definitely envious of all the great SMS games released in PAL regions. I've started collecting more of them, but they're still hard to find (or very expensive). Thanks for watching!

I grew up playwing Atari but skipped all 8bit, most 16bit and 32 bit console generations, it's really neat to see the progression after the video game crash. Those cards are neat piece of history and most if not all games are still playable today.

Though not as big a gap as you, we skipped over the 16-bit generation and only got into it in about 1997. So, even in 97, we were still impressed by 16-bit console graphics. It was also nice because we could focus on getting only the best of the best games for rock-bottom prices.

Another great video, I have a lot of good memories of those simple card games.

Thanks! We did a whole 30 day series on the SMS leading up to the 30-year anniversary of getting my first Sega. Strangely, it seems that the Sega Cards video is the only one people can find (and it has like 20X more views than all the others). I have a playlist of all 30 videos we did. I actually do not yet own any of the Sega Cards. These look really simplistic--kind of an in-between Atari and NES almost. Very glad to have seen some of these in action--thank you!

They're fun enough to collect, but not so much to play. It might be neat to have one or two just to see what they're like, though. I'd recommend Ghost House.

I’m pretty sure the word transform is not copyrighted. Cool SMS collection though.

Thanks for watching!! The copyright thing was a joke about a knock-off "Transformers" movie called "Transmorphers" that used the slightly different name to avoid legal problems.

You would look at player 2's screen in spy vs spy? Wow...Mighty Q Dawg is a screen watcher...I don't know how I feel about this 😜 I had a review of teddy boy ready to go but then had the idea to do all those Mickey mouse games for halloween and realized I needed to focus on that at the time, but teddy boy is coming. As for transbot...as I said in my video of that title...it isnt bad but after what I went through to make that video I doubt I'll play it again.
@MightyQDawg

I think the manual for Spy vs Spy actually recommends screen watching... Looking forward to the Teddy Boy review. I had never played the game much, but it kind of grew on me while capturing game play video of it.

The death animation in Teddy Boy looks a lot like the one in Alex Kidd. Weird. Anyway, it's a game I'd like to try, it's one of the most interesting in this group of seven (I dislike Transbot, instead)

It's weird to see American's celebrating a console no-one actually bought... Facts checked... 2 million sold in the US. So not that obscure!
@MightyQDawg
@MightyQDawg 4 жыл бұрын
It was nowhere near as popular as the NES here in the States. (In fact, most people here thought the Genesis/Megadrive was Sega's first console.) However, it wasn't hard to find either: I found out about it simply by going to local toy store and seeing it on the shelf. My family had one and so did my friend, and we had a blast with it. Thanks for watching!

@@MightyQDawg Looking at my figures *typing noises* the US sold 32mill NES's and just 2mill sms's. This disparity seems huge. People always say they never even heard of the sms but you say it was no big deal to buy one. I suppose it just had a really tiny library compared to the NES. But still, just 2 million!? Perhaps it was just too late to market for that generation in North America.
@MightyQDawg
@MightyQDawg 4 жыл бұрын
@@iwanttocomplain The marketing here was pretty bad: there were very few TV commercials for it, whereas the NES had many. I think people just heard about NES from friends (and TV) and it snowballed from there. I'll stick by what I said: it wasn't hard to find, I just don't think people were looking out once they had heard about the NES. As you mentioned, the SMS library was lacking too. Super Mario Bros. was definitely a "killer app".
@iwanttocomplain
@iwanttocomplain 4 жыл бұрын
@@MightyQDawg Yeah I think it always did lack a killer app. The Sonic games were a bit meh. Also, Sega never had good commercials. I remember "Do me a favour, Plug me Into a Sega" when Virgin was marketing it. But it showed Moonwalker and got it on that merit. The NES was advertised much earlier with the robot (which turned out not to do anything really) but it cost too much at that point and they didn't really show the games. I didn't know anyone who owned a NES. The only other console I'd seen was some people's old 2600's with games like Pele Soccer and Combat. Good games on the 2600 though.
