Never come across that AB Cop game before. Would have been great to have seen this back in the old arcades. So, it’s great that individuals are keeping the arcade scene alive with this type of future proofing. Hat off to that Martin dev guy! Enjoy the weekend!

Yea that AB cop was quite popular in holiday places like Butlins in the UK, usually next to or near the big rad mobil cabinet that you sit in etc.

Hey Alex, I honestly believe if it hasn't happened already that fixing these original boards for games like this will become a niche industry where there will be very few people able to work on them and know exactly how to fix them properly. Glad theres a strong communtiy behind it and people like Martin. This is the retro gaming tech history in essence. That second game looked a lot of a fun mate.

It’s ceases to amazes me what some folks in the community can dream up. Those games looked great and the fact that they’re making use of a different cab to their own is amazing. Like you say these boards ain’t gonna last forever. I also thought the inclusion of a Master System game was a great touch. Take it easy mate.

These kinds of projects are SO COOL. Big shout out to "Smarty" for doing this board. I absolutely LOVE these types of modifications / modern replacement boards. Thanks for showing it off, and thanks to the developer for this innovative take on classic arcade emulation. There are similar projects out there, but the more the merrier, especially for the future of classic arcade game preservation! Yea, AB Cop is a game I've played a fair amount -like you say "Chase HQ on flying bikes". It's actually not a bad game, but I feel it's a little unbalanced and a little too difficult from level 3 onward. Great coverage of the "Smarty Board". I, just like you, love the simplicity of a single cab serving several games - an absolute space saver. The US guys are off the chart - I envy them of course, but let's be practical here!

Love this kinda stuff, I've got a outrun mini and this would be a great backup. Currently I'm going through all the gears and replacing them with a steel and 3d printed repros. Great video man!!

Well that's a great upgrade to the cab there, amazing to have more games to choose from. Riding Hero is great, always makes me think of Hang On mixed with Super Monaco GP, AB Cop is just like Chase HQ like you said and another cracking game. The original Hang On is also great, interested by that Hang On Jnr, never seen that before, the bike is different and larger than the SMS so it's not exactly the same 👍✌️

Hi James Yes I didn’t show case hang on jr cus it wasn’t a super scaler. It did have its own dedicated cab and looks very similar to the master system game with slight improvements. Glad you enjoyed the video mate

I've been after a super hang on for years, after I stupidly sold my one. I have a hang on mini I am restoring, but still want a super hang on. That racing hero looks a great game, and its using the classic 80s 2 stroke motorbikes of that era. Hang on junior was actually released in a arcade machine ( Same cab as hang on mini) but it's very rare.

Massive fan of Sega Racers but only really had chance to play the console ports except for Outrun and Power Drift at Arcade Club Leeds, so to see some of their obscurer racing games running on an arcade machine was a lot of fun! Know its not the same gameplay wise but would pay good money for a Switch collection of classic Sega Racers from over the years.

@@TheArcadeArchive I forgot about those, 3DS was where i first played Power Drift and the Super Hang On port was great too. Virtua Racing and Outrun on the Switch are fantastic too, ports by M2 who did all the 3DS ones too. Shame they only come in bursts from Sega as there are so many more racers of theirs I'd love to give a try.

Really cool to see all these multi kits getting made, some really great work being done in the community to bring these out. This is sooo cool. (Smarty) AB cop was a Favourite of mine whilst at butlins holiday inn! And obviously the others I played around too with.....(actually I lie, never saw racing hero or even knew about it till about 2012 lol... seems like a cheap quickly developed game. Example branching paths but certainly not like outrun!) But that smarty board is a great peice of kit because of the age of the model x or y board. Original hardware will always be the ultimate in aesthetic cool, but sometimes practicality is needed if it is to preserve and survive and be playable to the public etc. Regards! Question does this board litterally act as emulation, if yes, emulation like software MAME Or more like that MISTER machine that hardware emulates if you understand?!

nice. got an Outrun smartypi now and it's fantastic . Interesting, I'd never heard of Racing hero or A.B Cop and they do look like very worthy tittles. Racing Hero as a much more outrun feel than the hang on series for sure. ... might be time to start looking for a Hangon cab :D

Surprisingly both good games and definitely worth having. I really like racing hero, all though slower paced than super hang on I like the fact you can choose your path. A.B cop is a fun quick blast game. Don’t see many super hang on cabs in the wild but good luck 😎👍

Plenty of super hangons about its one of the more popular sega titles and not rare at all.. Passed on 3 in the last 12 months. Great game but like all racers (including outrun) once you learn it and can complete the courses it gets boring fast.

Amazing bit of tech, double win imo, you get extra games in your cab and also rest your original pcb, I don't really know current views within the hobby but I seem to have the feeling people accept this type of gadget as a good idea. I did own a dedicated racing hero cab, was a non worker and the wiring was a mess, I got as far as the game running blind, took the monitor out but it was around the time I was getting shut so it ended up as being part of the job lot Andy took, never seen it at arcade club so maybe it was not feasible fixing it, or it's in his warehouse with the other 999 cabs hahaha Enjoyed seeing the games, I love the sega super scalers 👍👍

There was a racing hero for sale in a shop in Birmingham and I did ask but it has already been sold. Apparently it is very rare. In the community I think as long as you don’t need to much with the loom and your not changing anything it’s great. And that’s the great thing about it, I could put the original board in at any time. In the future most of these games will run on these types of boards as will have no choice. I’m sure andy as a board somewhere haha

@@TheArcadeArchive My racing hero cab was £50 lol I can't remember the name of the person I bought it from but he was from Nottingham, near ikea, and had been banned from ukvac, I think he'd registered again under a different name, was rumbled and blocked but thankfully I'd already contacted him, paid and Martin collected it without any issues, we are going back around 7 years now, not sure what had gone on but I remember reading the last thing you ever do on ukvac is ban someone so I guess he'd upset a few people somehow. Looking back, my biggest error bitd was to quite often buy a non working cab like racing hero and hope its going to be a loose wire or something obvious wrong, it never was that easy, well wasn't for me lol faulty cabs often remained faulty, the only ones I resurrected were ones with things missing like needing a new monitor or pcb, like the trog cab we've spoken about before, I bought it as a shell with working monitor and simply bought all the pcbs from America and bobs your uncle.
