The "Magna Grecia" translated as Great Greece, were pre-Romanesque Greek colonies, they profoundly influenced southern Italy, influencing its culture and leaving many temples, theaters, founding dozens of cities and still today in some cities of southern Italy, the language Greek is still spoken.
@estherkisob99193 жыл бұрын
"Magna Graecia" was the name given by the Romans to coastal areas of Southern Italy. In the present day it is the region of "Calabria" Sicily although also a region of Greek colonization is not usually included in this area.

What I enjoyed about this video are the panoramic views from the Temple and Theater. They are awesome. They always builds on top of the hills to get the best views. As one commentator just mentioned (The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento) probably has a lot of Greek temples more than in Greece. Another " Walking Tour" featured them. Thanks for the video.

Just came from visiting the site. After your visit there must have been a devastating fire. The trees you see in the background are gone. They rebuilt the visitor's center and now you have to pay entance fee. 12 Euro to see both, the temple and the theater. This way you will not get lost there anymore.

Hi Misha & Matteo, I love your channel because you are active and enjoy life (and so do I) I just got back from a week on Malta (check out St Peter's Pool). But back to Sicily: there are a couple of hikes along the coast on the East side around Catania and Syrakus, and another hiking areaTrapani to beautiful coastal pebble beaches with crystal water. I think those nature walks/hikes to hidden coves are the best before a plate of Pasta. Nina Hill has a Sicily video with those hikes. I was hoping you would feature those. you're the best. Peter

@JunkyarDog983 жыл бұрын
@@ares9522 Certo.

I don't want to be negative or question your plans, but I did some math... it's the fourth month in Sicily (which deserves all of them, don't get me wrong, and your videos have always been interesting, well done and high quality). There are 20 regions in Italy. At this pace, it'll take you seven full years to do the whole tour.

@Captain Ufo Sicily is like it’s own country and why we call it the piccolo continente. It’s the largest region of Italy, the largest island in the Mediterranean, and the territory with the most satellite islands. You could spend a lifetime in Sicily and never see it all. C’era na vunta unu cuieddè di Enna nun tuccà mà la rina a lu muari. Vossìa lu capì? Let’s enjoy the view and when they get to Italy, they get to Italy. Sicilia bedda, Sicilia bedda.. 🎶
