A small smattering of content from the legendary 1980s USA Network show "Night Flight", which is fondly remembered by many as "MTV for stoners". The opening overture not only describes perfectly what they would feature on the show, but also describes a typical episode. Often times, there would be a running "theme" throughout what they were showing.

This show was so exciting in early 80's, remember there was no internet, so seeing the rare things Night Flight showed on TV was GOLD!!

I loved this show so much. Born in 70 so my teenage years were 1983-1989, this show was a cross between MTV and Dr Demento.....nothing comparable now.

Born in 1970 as well my GenX comrade - loved Night Flight it’s hard to explain how important it was to us back then. Truly an “alternative” era (backlash against the boomer obsessed mainstream media)

This video would have been longer (almost an hour long), but a whole bunch of it got blocked out, due to those pesky copyright blah-blah-blah's, so I had to edit this and make do with what was left. I still have some other Night Flight stuff on dusty old VHS tapes.

I remember when I was a little kid in the 90s, my folks dragged me to Las Vegas and when I was in the room while they gambled downstairs, I was flipping through the channels late night and caught this program. I had no idea what the hell it was. The intro looked cool but it had a lot of things like interviews, music videos, etc. I think the channel was showing reruns of this show. Takes me back for sure!

I first caught it in 2nd grade in 1984 and watched it every weekend with a steady mix of fear and excitement all the way up to when one week it just up and disappeared. Broke my heart. Glad to know I wasn't alone out there in my dark basement living room, bathing in the sick blue light of a huge wood television. Great memories.

I was the same age at that time myself when I first discovered the show. I think that was what prodded my Dad to go and buy this thing called a "VCR", which I had never heard of, but that was some of the first stuff we put onto tape.

Very fond memories of being a very little kid and watching this. Staying up way into the night and knowing you're getting away with something special. The show introduced me to so many pop culture oddities like the cult of the subgenius, Fantastic Planet, Night of the Living Dead and even it's own super satarical take on super sentai with Dynaman. Plus who could forget all the really obscure music videos. Just a great show in general.

Never had this in Australia in the 1980s. TV today definitely needs this - the running theme concept works well. I can understand how people liked this show in 1980s USA.

I absolutely LOVED this show bk in the day. Ill never forget how upset I was when I turned on USA sat night to watch the show and Up all night came on stead. Haha....I never watched the show because it took night flights place. Took it out on them. It was hands down the best show on TV. I loved how it had everything and her voice was a. It part of thr shows success. I had no idea she was black. I always thought Robin from Howard Stern sounded like her. Those were some great years. Wish I could find every episode free. Haha

@@j.p.holiday8899 There was a low-budget and shorter rendition of the show that was on until about the mid-'90s, which aired on Seattle's KTZZ channel. It was about an hour or an hour-and-a-half long, and not quite the same, but it was nice to see it was still sort of trying to carry the torch for a while. I last saw it on New Year's Eve of 1994-5, when they showed things like "Thank You Mask Man" and "Suspicious Circumstances" during the episode.

Are those puppets of Paul and Linda McCartney from the English show Spitting Image?Who was the puppet snorting a Milkshake supposed to be?Mick Jagger?
@Esotereclectic
@Esotereclectic Ай бұрын
Yeah, that's "Spitting Image". They never caught on over here on this side of the pond for some reason. Maybe the humor (or the puppets) were "too weird", and maybe seen as mean-spirited. Despite TV appearances and that one Genesis video, they pretty much disappeared after that, at least over here. And yes, that's Mick alright. I have another special that was done for Cinemax, with a quick clip of Mick sneezing into a hanky, then Paul McCartney blows his nose into it, and then passing it to some other guy, who snorts up their snot like cocaine. Bizarre!!!
