I watch in awe. Having a class like this from The Master must have been earned, especially for a woman in that day by uncommon talent and practice.

He considered it his "calling" in life, to be the disciple of the guitar, and he certainly did change those attitudes. He also embraced recording very early on, before it was respected in the world of classical music (a traditionally very pretentious bunch ;-) ) and exposed the world not only to the magnificence of the guitar but to classical music in general. He was quick to point out that Bach himself spent a great deal of time transposing his (own) works to other instruments.

he also knows they cry easier than the guys. I've seen him make a guy cry before!!

No. He didn't say "Play everything slow while naked." He said that she needs to practice everything articulate each note slow. I don't remember his exact words right now but I guarantee you he didn't tell that girl to do it naked. I'm not surprised he's more patient with his female students. He was brought up in a generation and a culture where it was engrained in the man that the woman was a delicate creature and needed to be treated with chivalry, gentleness and consideration.

It was wrote for the violin. There is no proof, Bach even wrote for the lute. And i think Segovia was the first to put it into the guitar rep.

"...practise everything slow - and: Articulating very much!.." Needs a bit of imagination running wild to hear anything about "naked" in it ;-)

@padario44 ya , from what i understand he got a lot of shit for playing Bach on the guitar, at the time the classical artists considered it a a silly instrument unworthy of the classics
@steveb93256 жыл бұрын
Yea! I'd like to see these classical artist that called it s silly instrument actually play a classical guitar!
