Ty for this. I have been studying this verse, using multiple versions, matthew henry commentary and strongs exhaustive concordance. It seems like this verse translates to "connected to God are the ones who have humbled their soul". I think Isaiah 66:2 says it best.

Sincerely, "The poor in spirit" is a serious or complicit error in the French translation by LOUIS SECOND of being humble of spirit, moreover "spiritual poverty" again by the virginity of the spirit or the spirit devoid of any thought attached to the material or the superfluous.
