if the rules are limited to seidokaikan, then call it seido vs seido. If seido vs muay thai based on "freestyle" rules, then this fight can be described as one martial art vs another one

Seidokaikan allows for clinching, sweeps, knees and elbows lol This kind of sparing is called shinkensobu. Seidokaikan branched off from kyokushin (and then later ashihara) because it wanted to incorporate more influences from Muay Thai and Olympic Boxing. Seidokaikan is basically dutch kickboxing/danish Muay Thai but in a GI

Its funny because the Muay Thai fighters accepted the challenge with Seido Karate rules, right? They already knowed what could happen to them when they fight the rules of another, and Seido Karate's program of fighting includes elbows, sweeps, throws,etc... So, maybe Seido Karate is missing here, right?

You can use knees and elbows in seidokaikan! It’s NOT IKO 2. Seido allows for clinching and foot sweeps too! This is just a fight from the 90’s / early 2000’s so it’s awk Seido kaikan branched off from kyokushin by incorporating more outside influences from Muay Thai and Olympic boxing. There’s two types of sparing in seido: traditional knockdown (kyokushin rules) and shinkensobu (gloves and face shots allowed). Seidokaikan, like shin karate, is often criticized as “kickboxing in a gi” by other karate styles.

Wrong heading, the guy in shorts has not a muay thai stance, he is fighting in a kickboxing stance, he almost never check the kicks, nor tried to clinch and throw some knees.

If they’re not allowed to hit each other in the face. It’s really not a fight or a spar.
@autistpatrol24932 жыл бұрын
They ARE allowed to hit the face! This is shinkensobu rules, but it’s a sparring match! Seido kaikan branched off from kyokushin and ashihara because it took influences from Muay Thai and Olympic boxing!

oh bullshit no knees, no elbows, no head punches, no clinching and throws -- that is not muay thai

Seido karate isnt is either, his arsenal has punches to head, elbows, sweeps and throws too

What a joke. What good is Muay Thai if you can't punch or elbow the head or clinch and trip? Utter nonsense.

One good rip would have dropped that Karate guy. Hands all over the place. Big holes. That kick boxer had tight defense. No body shots got through.
@rocketassistedgoat10796 жыл бұрын
And one good punch to the head by the karateka would have dropped the kick boxer. What's your point? It's the rules that constrain them. You realize Seido is derived from Kyokushin and that Kyokushin dudes break concrete with their punches? And that even though it's [slightly] softened, both schools nonetheless do their pressups on their front two knuckles, growing bone-like what the kickboxer does with his shins? These are all formiddable fighting styles, and in the street; it's hard to say who would win, as you'd only need one or two good hits.
@ironbrigador66007 жыл бұрын
2nd Karateka is smart, he went in close and dangerous. I'm guessing the rules don't allow clinching? Hes exploiting it to the fullest.

I'm a karate practioner, but in my opinion this fight should be in K-1 or in other rules, that's looks like seidokaikan vs seidokaikan

@AngusMcFife-sd8cmАй бұрын
It's probably Seido juku. The emblem on the arms seems like a seido juku one.

Seems like the rules areore to the advantage of the Seido fighter! Or maybe the Thai Fighter agreed to those rules🤷
@johnyracercat8 жыл бұрын
Both guys keeping hands down. Karate guy has no power. A black belt in some schools means nothing. I would say the Muay Thai fighter would do better in the real world. At least he is trained to put power behind it.
@rocketassistedgoat10796 жыл бұрын
Pretty ignorant comment mate. The black belts at my Seido dojo; are powerhouses. I would only try to fight one of them if I was backed into a corner and couldn't talk my way out of it. It's the rules that constrain them.
@Team_Killer_NZ4 жыл бұрын
Lol muay Thai fighters spar hard and walk away every week, if seido is so effective and deadly then it wouldn't be legal 😂
@firstname43374 жыл бұрын
"Both guys keeping hands down" -- because seido is a bullshit martial art that doesn't allow punches to the head --- so there's nothing to block
@Team_Killer_NZ3 жыл бұрын
@Owl Longbow k-1 is literally kick boxing which has no relation to modern day karate lol its primarily Dutch style KICK BOXING , it doesn't incorporate karate style techniques as its foundation but the ruleset was invented with karate in mind. Any other karate related style is absolutely trash and useless, only kykoshin has some merit to it
