Seiko 101: Changing the capacitor in a kinetic. Gen 1 Landmaster AGS 5M23-6A20

This watch was part of the batch I bought from a friend a while back. First-generation AGS (automatic generating system) Landmaster Kinetic. Bonus content: doing a full case rebuild on this really impressive monocoque case. This thing is really overbuilt, it's wild. Double screw-down crystal for one thing.
PSA: This video contains sub-optimal levels of editing, usually none. We have zero script, no planning, no real editing, nothing. Same for the sound - I forgot my microphone so if you can hear anything count that as a win. Even if that "anything" is tuneless humming. I did pump up the volume though. YMMV if you choose to blow part of your life on this. No Refunds. Enjoy!

Spencer you make it look so easy. When I changed the capacitor on my Seiko titanium kinetic, I spent most of my time on my knees looking for dropped screws. I did get it working in the end. Thanks for your videos.

Oh sure, no worries. That’s the click ball, they’re no problem to replace. You can just get another one from a ballpoint pen.

Great Job as always. I'm sure you figured it out why it has 2 coils. 1 is for charging and the other is for the charge indicator. Have a good day!

I think one has to also be for timekeeping. The power reserve function is probably a separate function in the CMOS / circuit.

Good morning sir, I have the same watch as in the video purchased many years ago but unfortunately the old capacitor was worn out, so I got a replacement [ MT920 ] and thanks to your video presentation and a pdf manual of the movement [ 5M23A] I was able to able to replace the old capacitor myself.. Thank you very much! I have a technical question. After the replacement I noticed that the capacitor load indicator does not work correctly. each press of the button moves the second hand to various positions, contrary to how it should work. Is it a defect in the IC or did I have to reset the module in some way that I'm not aware of, the rest of the watch works perfectly, surprised by the accuracy of the movement? Also, would you be kind enough to tell me, if possible, where I can get the gaskets for replacement? I would like to be able to replace the gaskets but I am unable to find the sizes or a supplier for this specific material. Thank you for your response and for sharing the videos that are so useful to the community of watch enthusiasts!

easy! The last number stands for where the watch was sold, world-wise. "0" means World, "9" means N. America. Other than there's no difference typically.

Hi Spencer, May I ask where you got that capacitor? My dad has a seiko solar powered JDM he bought say 20 years ago. We've been told you can't get replacement capacitors anymore?

What's the full casing number? It's on the back in a format like 7T34-00A0 or 6309-7040 etc.
