Thanks for the lovely review! I own a couple of Seiko 5 watches, and to me the SRPE is the first one that does not feel like a compromise in any regard. It's just an elegant, versatile, minimalist, iconic, modern interpretation of a sports watch. I never understood why people considered it an SKX successor or demanded a finicky screw-down crown since this is an entirely different animal. I chose the more subdued SPRE61 (brushed bezel) which I am wearing on a vintage style leather strap or the original Nato. BTW: Should you ever need a replacement for the original Nato, you can get an exactly matching strap in hardware, color, texture (minus the original buckle) from from Juelong at aliexpress for under two dollars.

Thank you very much! Yes!!! That is exactly how I feel about this watch! No point having a screw down, it's not like I'm diving with it. I wear mine in a bracelet / sail cloth strap cause I'm always sweating haha, you can see in my other vids that I wear it while working my car and DIY projects. Thank for the recommendation, will check it out!

I dont know why people dont like the new logo. I never liked the super Seiko shield. I like the "automatic" text. Its balances the dial. I am glad no jewel count. Its a hold over from the yesteryear marketing to claim quality based on jewel count.

I'm just starting out with watches and I'm thinking of either getting this or the one with the bezel. So which do you think I should get? I really love the look of the bezel of the 5kx but I also love the dresskx's versatility. Also, I'm a student and just want to have one good watch that can last a while, and not looking out of place in any events, be it formal or casual.

welcome aboard this wonderful journey! I would personally go with dresskx for it's versatility if you plan on having 1 good watch first. This was also one of my first piece I started out with, it's a great piece! you can dress up, dress down, take it swimming, it will serve you well. I was never really a fan of Seiko bezels as they ALWAYS have misalignment issues, for me at least lol, or maybe i'm just unlucky. I'd go with Citizen's Urban Mecha for a bezel sports watch, due to, 1. price 2. better quality of the bezel 3. Miyota movements are more accurate from my experience.

Thank you so much!!! The leather strap is actually from a quartz Tommy Hilfiger watch that I no longer wear haha, the dark blue one is actually a no-brand black sailcloth strap I got from Shopee, these are commonly found on Aliexpres too. Lots of options there for straps 😬

Thanks @@JoseLuisVibes !! I got it from my local AD for just over 200usd. It was in Oct last year amidst the Pandemic, I think I got a pretty good deal haha. But for me, I prefer to get my seikos from The AD so i can do my own QC. Lately seiko has lots of QC issues with misalignment and all~

It's been a year, has the hardlex accumulated scratches yet? I've been considering to get one for myself, but I've never purchased a seiko with a hardlex crystal on it (at least on my automatic seikos, that is...)

As of now actually 2 years and 3 months, not a single scratch on the hardlex 👍 But I need to add that I sent it to service twice due to the movement running about 75sec fast a day. After the 2nd service its all good now

Hello there, they usually don't say, but generally watches that are made in Japan will have a writing on the dial saying made in Japan, and the movement will say Japan. If there is no indication it's safe to assume it's made in Malaysia. Usually only US and Japan will get the JDM version.

u r so lucky have a good wrist size , i have a 8.2 inch wrist what ever i wear in 40 mm range looks tiny , and most good watches are either 42 mm max and down those look tiny have to wear massive ugly diver watches of casios

I'm actually pretty limited with choices too haha. I guess the ideal would be 7inches. My tiny 16cm wrist makes 39mm look like I'm wearing a 41mm haha. Perhaps you can try Seiko's Summo or Samurai range, they are 44mm watches that look nice and sleek 👌🏻
