This was very helpful. I was reassembling a 7546 which is the same on the front side. The tip engaging the day spring and recess side down for the c clip were appreciated.

Hey Michael, awesome series! I've made it to the final test and sure enough the date isn't rolling over with the time. I've tried rotating the keyless in both directions for some time, and I've double checked the steps that should impact this. I'll keep diagnosing this, but if you or anyone else have any ideas of what it could be in the meantime I'd appreciate the insight 😁 Thanks again for this series! My first movement spun up on the first try!

Interesting. So I found the two screws holding the pallet fork were wrong. Too long and sticking out the back preventing the date function. Now after swapping them out with the proper screws, I managed to get the week day to change but not the day itself. Will hang it up for today but more investigating to be done
@goosh3111 ай бұрын
I have no clue how, but the issue was resolved be me back stepping, remiving the week day dial, spinning through the time and sure enough it somehow started swapping the days as expected. Everything is working flawlessly now! Thanks again for the indepth videos! Excited to wear something that I've worked on.

Thanks so much for the very detailed video, I was able to disassemble and assemble 6309 movement exactly the way you did in these 4 videos But I have a problem in winding the watch, I have so far followed your videos 3 times and disassembled and assembled it, but the winding stem doesn't seem to engage with anything in the first position and unable to wind the watch. Date and day setting is working in the second position, time setting is working in the third position. Couldn't seem to find the problem. I have bought a new winding stem but no luck. Appreciate any suggestions

Seiko do not hand wind. They are automatics only. To wind you need to either wind the mainspring manually by using a screwdriver in the screw on the ratchet wheel on top of the barrel. Or to fit the rotor and spin that to wind. Other than this well done for getting this far.

Great video ! I’m using it as we speak. You mentioned in Part 1 you would I include a step about how to disassemble the automatic works and rebuild. I have to do so as the pawl lever is broken on the movement I am working on and I am waiting on a replacement arriving. Is this an easy process ? Thanks again 🙏
@MyRetroWatches5 жыл бұрын
Hello, removing the pawl setup is easy and will be in one of my videos some where. there are 3 screws to remove the plate from the top of the watch. The pawl is held in by a plastic shroud which you just use a thin screwdriver blade to lever up. If you see the end of this video (click link) it will show you the assembly . kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWbdm6CLfqd2hs0

My Retro Watches Thank you for your reply. I successfully disassembled the Automatic works, correctly oiled, installed the new pawl lever and in stalled the the assembly during the movement side rebuild. All works perfectly 🙏 Now to calendar side this week. Brilliant videos.

Is the facebook group over? I've done this hole process but the balance only works when i stop the barrel.
@MyRetroWatches6 жыл бұрын
Gaspar lobo Facebook live and has 2000+ members. Sorry I don’t understand your question “balance only works when I stop the barrel” Without the balance fitted does the pallet fork move from one side to the other wth the minimum touch of tweezers / oiler?
@arpag6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the reply! Yes, i done that and the pallet fork works like you say in the video. When i took the barrel out it had way to much oil and it was very dark, i dont know if it helps... I'll try to upload a video to show you.

So there looks to be something wrong with the power. if you have to apply pressure on the barrel then its either not seated right / flat, the hole in the mainplate is dirty or the barrel arbour is sticking. without the pallet and balance attached does it spin freely when you wind the spring? its always a sure way to tell. attach the ratchet wheel on the barrel and when you tighten the screw this winds the spring. The wheels in the movement should then spin rapidly. I would assure what happens is this either does not happen or happens for a bit and stops. You can often hear it also. wheels make a whistling sound, if the sound is going higher and lower it means the power is fluctuating, it should be consistent. |If you have joined the FB group post in there also as I or other members can come to your aid.
