Seiko Astron GPS Solar SSJ003J1 (SBXD003) Review - The Perfect Timepiece for a One Watch Collection?

This Seiko Astron GPS watch features the Calibre 3X - the very latest Astron GPS Solar movement. In size, in energy efficiency and in signal reception, it demonstrates how far Seiko’s technology has come since the introduction of the first GPS Astron Solar watch. The case is 39mm in diameter thanks to the reduced GPP reception antenna that uses components distributed across a single plate. The watch maintains the same high level of reception performance and offering a power reserve of approximately six months.

I was listening to this while working. When I heard the price I rolled my eyes and thought : 'yeah, right'. Then I turned my head and looked at it and though : 'actually, that's a really attractive and rugged looking quality watch' (but not in those exact words). I would consider spending that much on it if I had that much to spend and wanted one.

Looks lovely mate. Looks close to GS quality defo. Surprised how good the bracelet and clasp are. For somebody who wants a GS but can't or won't pay 3 or 4k this looks like a great option. Great review will

Nice, really nice. Astron is a Seiko branch you just don't hear about often. Accuracy aside, your Citizen Ray Mears would be a great candidate for a one watch collection.

Congratulations for the new Borealis. Got mine three days ago too. Very impressive watch. Great quality, build, machining and tolerances. Only caveat: when pulling the crown toward the case and screwing it down the, the winding mechanism does not disengage. Perhaps the stem is too short on my specific watch. Is it the same with your watch? The crown action itself it good: not oily smooth as on luxury watches, but the stem is stable, and the "pop" is great when the crown is released. @@ZaltekReviews I wrote to the great Carlos, and he answered immediately, as follows: "Thank you for your contact and feedback. Please be aware most microbrand watches do keep winding when screwing it down as in the case of the Bullshark. If any issue arises do let me know". Now, that's a satisfying reply from a watchmaking master (albeit contrary to my experience with several microbrand watches, except the Zelos Mako III), yet it is strange that your watch doesn't manifest this characteristic.

I own the Oceanus. If you can see both in the flesh ( ?) . You've probably chosen already 8 months on. The Casio is cheaper - lum works better looking at this review. If you enjoy or need titanium as well.May be difficult to get a good fit - the bracelet is non detachable. If I didn't like it ( I took my 2 attempts to size it ), would returning it to Japan have been easy? I still enjoy looking at it & wear it in the summer.

How do you set the time on this thing? The manual doesn’t explain it and I fiddled with it in every way but failed to set the time and I wish I didn’t waste my money on this convoluted thing
