Incredibly beautiful watch with a lot of attention to details, the only problem I have with it is the thickness! In 1973. Seiko had an automatic chronograph with a column wheel, a vertical clutch system, a flyback function and stacked register where the hours and minutes where on the same subdial, and the whole watch was 11mm thick so it makes me wonder WHY all the modern chronograph movements are SO THICK
@JustBlueFish6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can't say I know why, but all the mechanical chronographs I've reviewed (Seiko, Breitling, Fortis) were quite thick.
@dwaynetherock-hardjohnson56766 жыл бұрын
Watch Geek do you know the model of that Seiko with the fly back function?
@WatchGeek6 жыл бұрын
Dwayne the 'Rock-Hard' Johnson just google Seiko 7016, there were many models, but that movement was the real star
@st9396 жыл бұрын
That's because the "chrongraph" is a module added on a "standard" movement. It is not designe as a chronograph from the ground up as were the Brintz and other Anantas using the 6S37 caliber for instance.

Amazing watch, great review. The accuracy of the alignment of seconds hand and the corresponding alignment of minutes to the dial markings is such a pleasure to watch.

Your video is good. The movement of the second hand of the wrist watch looks good. The movement of the minute hand of the chronograph can also be seen well. That Seiko chronograph is a good wrist watch.

I have the SRQ021 with the Urushi lacquer dial limited to 1000 pieces. Just an amazing watch encompassing millenia-old Japanese craftmanship. Same movement with the vertical clutch and column wheel. These watches offer quality that the Swiss offer at at least 3 times the price. I don't know how Seiko manages to offer this quality at this price point.
@JustBlueFish6 жыл бұрын
That SRQ021 looks awesome. I think they made a model with the white as well? They look superb. Thanks for watching.

Guy, at one angle You turned the watch, the hands (while looking Black Straight on) Appeared to have a translucent Blue edge when the light shined at the angle! I love this watch and totally agree with You on the dial!! I want one! You are getting a fine quality timepiece! Price and Bulk are the only Concerns - but I think it is an awesome timepiece!

I have the SARK005 which is a less expensive version of this watch. It too is just an outstanding watch and it comes on a bracelet. But I think I would trade it in for this SARK011. Good video, high quality camera work, thanks.

The SARK005 looks cool too, maybe a bit more contemporary of a version. Thanks for watching.

That's a beautiful watch. I have the power reserve version with the enamel dial and I love wearing it. I don't mind the thickness of the watch; in fact, I really adore it's height. Great review!

Superb Review. I had a Seiko quartz watch I bought in 1982 for 150$. This watch ran nonstop for over 10 years and lost very minimal time. In short, I loved it; I am a huge Seiko fan. I also like the watch you reviewed here; beautiful vintage look. I have a request. Could you review the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39mm with a Rhodium dial? Thanks again for a quality place to go to get an honest watch review.
@JustBlueFish6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stephen, I appreciate the feedback. I picked up fun little Seiko Quartz 2-Tone watch, made in 1985 I believe, for $25 on ebay. I love that watch, and still need to review it. I always say it's the best $25 I've spent on this hobby. Regarding the OP 39mm, I'd love to review more Rolex watches in general, unfortunately I don't have access to them. The truth is, at this point, the majority of watches that I've reviewed have been loaned to me by generous viewers that like supporting the channel. If you know anyone that has one that would loan it to me for a week have them contact me!

The quality of the current Presage line is stunning. Got a SARW025 same gilloché dial. The enameled dials are even fancier! Seiko is great for getting into the hobby.
@JustBlueFish6 жыл бұрын
Nice, that SARW025 is probably the one I'd go with out of the 3 mentioned in the video. Same great aesthetic, but 2mm thinner. I can live without the chronograph.
@mikehydropneumatic25836 жыл бұрын
I was to check it out and when I haggled €100 of retail bought it. Imho it is also the watch closest to the Laurel estetically. My maybe biased opinion is the the SARW025 is probably the best looking watch under 2-3K new. BTW it isn't a vintage dial it is art nouveau.

As you have progressed in your horological journey, I wonder if your thoughts have changed on this watch. In particular, you gotten used to paying for more expensive watches such as omega and Rolex. Do you consider this watch to still be pricey given what it offers? Having watched the moon watch review you did recently, I wonder how this piece compares to that. For such an expensive watch, I was surprised at some of the issues the omega had such as hands not aligning correctly or simply not resetting as it should. It would be interesting for you to do a retrospective on some of these older watches that combine your recent growth and experience in the hobby.

How does anti reflective coating on the inside work? A photon reflected by the crystal will never make it through the crystal to the coating. So what's the underlying theory?
@JustBlueFish6 жыл бұрын
I don't really understand the science behind it, so I won't even try to pretend to explain it, but there's an article on the HowStuffWorks website that discusses how AR coating on eyeglasses work. I imagine it's very similar for watch crystals.

Uh, you can't tell that the 1 is a different shape than the 10 and 11 and 12? That doesn't seem perfect to me. Actually, that seems like a glaring mistake, even if they meant to do it. Also, not only is the date window way more recessed than the chrono sub dials, it's lacking the ss trim that lines those dials. That looks like the date was a last minute desicion that didn't mean anything to the designers... Which is crazy because it's Seiko we're talking about. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely buy this watch on sale 40% off from a gray market seller. Just not full price. NEVER PAY FULL PRICE FOR SEIKO.

Let's say it was the first Seiko wristwatch. The first wristwatch dates probably from Breguet, 1810. www.breguet.com/en/history/inventions/first-wristwatch#

Decent watch... but I've seen the prices drop a lot... I want to like it as a Seiko fanboy, but there are a number of negatives in my opinion (seconds hand counter weight is distracting, the mini/chrograph hands have silver/metal centers that don't match the minute/hour hands, and the lack of sapphire on the display back screams cheap to me). Definitely not worth $1000+ in my opinion.
@JustBlueFish6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The stainless steel center posts on the subdials, now that you mention it, are a little off. I don't mind the Hardlex on the case back, though if I had my way I'd probably prefer a solid case back, as the movement isn't really much to look at.

If there was a 40 mm version I would be all over it!
@chaucao56524 жыл бұрын
wearing it 1 year daily the accuracy is -40 seconds daily it is not good at all , i do not recommend to anyone 👎🏾
@MrJamesDuffy6 жыл бұрын
Nice, thorough review! I think the height is exaggerated by the 40mm case diameter because most chronographs and divers at 15mm do not look as tall. There's a 37mm Hamilton Khaki Field chronograph that suffers from the same optical illusion.
@JustBlueFish6 жыл бұрын
It might be that, I hadn't considered it. It's not really any thicker than a typical mechanical chronograph that I've had experience with. But it is chunky.
