This explorer watch is available only in Europe. From the Alpinist collection which was first launched in 1959 exclusively in the Japanese market for Japanese 'Yama-otoko' mountain men, to be reliable in treacherous terrain.
Designed for practicality and powered by the Automatic 6R movement with highly visible LumiBrite on the dial and hands makes it easy to see in any light. Also comes equipped with a rotating compass inner ring and a sapphire crystal with cyclops date magnifier.

You dont need a watch or a compass to tell the directions! I can telll excactly which way is NSEW.

Seiko UK confirmed that the 199/197 share the same exact dial. Only difference was the accessories and the caseback LE number engraving

Now thats how to do a watch review 👏 if that doesn't sell it then, nothing can. Just added the spb119 "Ghost" white dial and loving it. After watching this review I'm tempted to add this beautiful colour or the new ssc813 speedtimer?? Xmas is upon us,,Time to scratch an itch 😉 A review of the ssc813 from yourself is a must..

Having owned this watch in green for 12 months and apart from the tacky prospex logo and the seiko logo obscuring the view of the movement this watch punches well above its price point , the specs , finishing and build quality is excellent . I fitted a uncle seiko beads of rice bracelet witch makes the watch really pop .

I've got the SPB155J1 which definitely has printed indices, so however they made the raised indices on this is an improvement, applied or otherwise. The cathedral hands are just a great look on this range.

Absolutely beautiful piece, I do really like the alp but I just don't really like how they've put the prospex logo on the dial. Sorta spoils it for me. But I suppose there's the older model too.

I'd say you have 5 years before you have to service. Maybe a bit longer with good care

I felt so tricked, i bought from a reseller for over market price thinking it was a limited edition. Gave it away to my dad cuz thinking bout it makes me so mad n seeing it thats all i can think about lol. Still like my willard tho
