I watched your strap video first and it inspired me to buy this green version over the blue version AND I bought the Barton alligator band, too. Thanks for the excellent options. I took it a step further and added a deployant buckle for enhanced awesomeness. This watch shines like an emerald in daylight! I’ve also ordered a British racing green canvas strap to complete the 60’s Lotus racing vibe!

Love mine ! And for once with Seiko I kept the original strap. Only issue I see is the positioning of the watch. Could be a beautiful dress watch if only it wasn’t so thick, not robust enough to be a sport watch…

I own this watch and if you can get it for less then $180 go for it. I love to wear this watch to church, the office on biz casual days, family holidays and to Japanese restuarants when I want ramen and robata! I didn't notice at first but there is a design element about this watch that is very "Japanese kitsch". I find myself just staring at it and watching it glisten. The gold frame around the day/date window in a nice touch, so is the applied logo and indices and mulit-level face. Plus it's my only square watch...and my only green face watch for that matter. How many square green watches do you own? LOL. The beveled crystal is also a very classy detail. The multi-finished case and high quality strap with signed buckle...I could go and on...Great watch for the price.

The little 'garage' for each indexes is a way to not terminus them into the case. But no lume for them and just dots isn't thought out. Or even the hands. I love good lume.

I have Rado , Hamilton and Seiko. Honestly I find Seiko far better quality with low/zero maintenance. I dropped my Hamilton automatic on carpet once, it stopped working and had to go to service center. My last maintenance cost of Rado Diamaster Ceramic Watch - $232.

Neat watch. Very interesting dial, there is a lot to see on it . Seiko should have left the pips off if they aren’t lumped and do black paint on the hands. The case is is cool also,like the brushing and the bevel on the bottom. To me it isn’t an everyday watch or beater, but a wine and cheese night out wearing a turtle neck sweater. Of course we want to see straps.

Nice review. I agree with you regarding the price. With a pedestrian 7S26 movement, it's basically a Seiko 5 with a highly stylized case and dial. The value proposition would be much more compelling if it were priced around $120 to $140. And the lack of lume is inexcusable. This isn't a dress watch; it's a casual watch styled to look like something from the 1970s. It should have have some night time utility. And why seemingly every watch manufacturer (except Seiko itself) can spec watches at this price point with Seiko's much better NH35/36 automatic movement remains a mystery to me.

Lume probably wasn't big in the 80's, and they were probably trying to keep it as retro as possible. That's just my guess though.

About two years ago, I got the previous "cushion case" recraft also in green/gold, I think I paid like somewhere around $100-$125 for it. I looked at these rectangular ones, but couldn't wrap my brain around $200 for another 7S26... Just nope...

Strange how a squarer shape needs less dimension to wear well. For a 6.5 inch wrist, just like yours. Thanks for the smiles as normal :-)

The dial colour is similar to my SNKM97. I'm not a fan of leather straps so I'll stick with mine. Just wait and it'll go on sale. I paid around $100US for mine.

Picked one of these up recently surprisingly $200 less than anywhere else charges at a local sams club, luxurious appeal from the exterior and it works like a charm, perfectly synced with the time on my iPhone, makes people think I got cash, and works flawlessly hasnt died yet I’ve had it about a week and a half. I would recommend this to pretty much anyone that wants a classy high performance comfortable cool luxurious looking watch. Love the open back

Nice watch, and nice video.... Not sure about modding it.... It is a Recraft... The whole point is for it to look the way it looks..... I'm okay with the price. It looks nicer than a Seiko 5 in the video... They did try, and do a nice job, with the face, the face is delightful.... The 7S26 is a huge disappointment. To me, there is no excuse for that watch not to have the 4R36... But I sound like a broken record on that, so.... My Seiko 5's have the 4R36. The only 7S26 I have is in that modded SKX... I think straps on that would make quite a difference. Feels like a dress piece to me.... So, some of your dressier leather ones could be great....

You're right about that. Some things are best left alone. Then again, If I think I can make it nicer and/or classier, i'll do it. As it stands, I don't think I can so I may as well just enjoy it for what it was intended to be. We'll see! Right now I have it on a green strap and it looks fantastic!

hi Curt, enjoy all of your videos. Heres an unrelated question. I have a Seiko 5 with an 18mm strap. It looks tiny, too narrow. I got a 20mm strap and cut it down to fit the 18mm space. Strap looks wrong , over powers the watch. Any ideas? Thanks. keep up the good work.

Curt did a video on a strap that fits Timex and also the Seiko SNK's. It's 18mm but flairs to the outer width of the lugs. I bought it through his Amazon link. Looks great! That is actually tin foil on my wall with two led lights pointed to them. Each light has green filters which I made from folder dividers that I got from the school supply section at my local Target store! Thanks for noticing!

I was thinking about getting this watch for a while and decided to finally pull the trigger after seeing this video. I gotta say man, you make this watch look a lot bigger than it really is lol. I get it, you go as far as to tell us your wrist size and accurately measure the watch on camera. I guess that will teach me to pay more attention. In the end still an awesome watch. I'm a big believer in the term "you get what you pay for" in this case... "You pay hell of a lot more than you should have for what you get". A but sad... I know the price will go down and it is a very pritty watch butnthat price is ridiculous... No sapphire, no bracelet, no real water resistance (10 bar), and the basic 7s26c :D Saiko have hopped on the "Ripoff train"..

Great vid as usual. The straps video was awesome, too. I've had this watch for a couple of weeks now and it's a future classic in my opinion. Put a mesh bracelet on it today and it looks cool and very Mad Men 60's style like you said. Perfect for old and assume, lol. Planning to get a baby monster bracelet soon as I think that is the best look based on your straps video. Thanks so much for taking the time to do what you do. You're rad! It's 155 USD on Amazon today with three left in stock. I'm guessing production has ended but not sure. When the last green dial Recraft (that I did not buy) sold out it showed up back on Amazon later for 100 dollars more, from jewelers flipping I guess. One last point, on the white hour pips and white marks on the hands. While it may not be lume it is very useful. Surprisingly often the ambient light conditions are such that these white markers stand out most and serve well to see the time at a glance. A good design decision I think even if not lume. Put my solid black seiko sun057 band 24mm, which looks like snakeskin on my Blue recraft, no problemo, then put the silver bracelet from my blue recraft on my green recraft. Nice!! Tks for the vid bro ⏰
