To my eye...this is gorgeous. And to me, it represents what Seiko was when they were moving up in the world. Watches like this are what propelled seiko forward, like an Apollo Rocket to the moon. Who wouldn't want to relive such glorious days when ANYTHING seemed possible.....this is an optimists watch, and that's why I'm ordering mine today in these rather gloomy uncertain times. It makes me smile so surely that's good enough. Thanks always jody

Great review as always. I love the Recraft line. I am bigger at 7.5 inch wrist and have a 43mm diver that fits just fine. I’m excited about the Recraft because 99% of vintage watches a tiny. I bought a predominantly Orange Recraft on Black Friday 2018 for $93.00 (currently on loan to my brother). Bro is not a “watch guy”, in fact when I first showed the watch to him I told him that it was a NOS 1971 Seiko. He actually bought it hook line and sinker. That’s how great these vintage homage pieces are. The designers absolutely nailed that “look”. One thing that I do not understand; why use the old 7S26 when the 4R35 (NH35) movement instead? Cost is no more that $10 for Seiko, and you get a much better motor. Hacking and Hand Winding are great upgrades. IMHO the 7S26 should be put out to pasture. Also I was happy to see Quartz options in the Recraft line. Always room for a quality Quartz movement. Cheers Jodi!

Thanks for bringing this to the fore, as a child of the 70's this absolutely resonates with me as a piece my elder brothers or father could have worn, on stock bracelet it looks ok and I get the feeling it'd be quite the strap monster, I'm in need of a green piece and was edging towards an Alpinist but something about it's styling doesn't work for me (although a far superior time piece no doubt). I'm sold on this and will be adding it to the collection.

I always loved the Recraft series because it was Seiko's answer to Daniel Wellington IMO...oversized fashion watches. I owned a few Recraft series watches a few years ago, but they are WAY too big. Even the SNKN69, whose dimensions were large at 43.5mm, felt way too big. I thought I could rock it, but couldn't. It felt way larger than its listed size. I LOVED the watch but it was just too big and too heavy. The SNKN03 was listed at 44MM, but felt like a 48mm and was as heavy as most divers. I felt like if Seiko went with the retro sizing these would be a runaway hit.

Love this watch, just got it today. Wore it around & the first thing you notice is that looking head on into it it's difficult to actually tell time. The hour & minute hand get lost easily but once you tilt it in the light then you're cooking, it lights up. Of course in Seiko fashion the indices aren't lined up well, in fact the noon & 6 are noticeably off. Inexpensive & unique, gonna keep it. Gonna have to dig up a leisure suit or a polyester shirt somewhere though.

Looking at the thumbnail I thought you were going to have me give a Seiko another try. The dial and case shape are so striking and beautifully laid out, it really is that something different which would be a fantastic weekend watch. But then the bad news double whammy! First it is huge and the very nice design comes all undone by the 44mm case and 24mm band. Is Seiko now going after the Invicta market? Second is the movement. Why put together such a handsome piece (size not withstanding) and then put your cheapest, least desirable movement in it? Give your loyal customers at least the NH35 that other watch makers offer at a lower price. If it had the NH35 and came in 40mm this watch would be a knockout and even the hardlex crystal could be overlooked. Great review as always. Keep bringing us the unexpected pieces along with the classics.
