Great review of pros and cons. Agree that Seiko can and should do a bit more on this watch per price to make it a bit more special. And appreciate the price perspective.

I hear ya brother. On one hand if Seiko would put another $50 into this watch (maybe less) and put a nice milled fold over clasp, some lume into the bezel numbers, line up the chapter ring, and a signed crown the watch would be stellar. I dont give a damn about the non ceramic bezel. For crissakes rolex did not start doing that until around 2010. Its the little stuff that Seiko could clean up for short money that makes me shake my head. This is what they used to do so well. Lots of value and quality. But they are really getting cheap in head scratching areas. Clasp and bracelets? Cmon Seiko, that is any easy area to do better in. Having said that, at under $700 its an excellent value. fix those few things and its a must buy!

I think the worst part is that similar to some other brands Seiko and Grand seikos are getting hyped up to the point where they are charging more and more for less... I love the SBDC because it's still a good value maybe not at full retail but at that 700$ level. And they could fix all the issues I mentioned with next to no effort and slim money. But why would they people are eating them up like Oreos ....

I ordered the sbdc063 version on strap. Had a lot of issues with Seiko bracelets and love their higher end silicon straps. Strapcode does make a line of comparable bracelets which I have used and found them easier to size and install. Though on this 20mm size seems a breeze to install. I also like the blue bezel. This may sound odd. I have their sbdc053 on strap. Wearing it as I type. Marc at Long Island has them and should be at my home anyway. Will try it on the 53 and will see. I did pay more with Gnonom from Singapore who is an ad for JDM Seiko. And usually get it via DHL in 3 days. The cost to the door is $690. With like $25 or soin loyalty credit which I have to email them for, it came to about what you paid except not a bracelet. The strapcode is $105 and uses screws. I love your review. Emailed Uncle Seiko they basically have nothing. Your likes and dislikes are true. All though everything lines up with my bezel. Luck of the draw I guess? I don’t care about the unsigned crown but agree it should be at the level of watch. Happy New Year. And going to subscribe. Update Gnonom emailed me and said I had $25 credit, and took it off.

I did buy also the Tissot Seastar very good watch too for the price, yesterday i wanted to buy the Longines hydroquest with blue ceramic bezel but the clasp is not my standards and power reserve less than 50 hours bit low for diver watch over $1,200 price

Love the feel of this on the wrist and the look is awesome that qc is a problem for me. I have the Anthracite dial turtle with the same chapter ring problem. It is a prob but it's also the 4th Seiko Diver that I own and the first with the issue. I don't know what is the most disappointing between the Seiko qc and my excusing it......

They bill thanks for the comment. I think we excused it because they are really great watches. For the price point you get a lot for the money. Unfortunately this seems to be an issue a lot of seikos... Hopefully they are listening and future miles will be corrected. I’m not knocking this watch or your video but I recently bought a Sumo off Amazon for $420 . My Sumo has none of the issues you mentioned on your watch . I know your watch has sapphire crystal and diasheild but to me I can’t see spending another $200 or more for a watch that has the quality control issues that you mentioned. Not just you either every video review I’ve seen on this watch has mentioned the same issues or even issues with the bezel as well. Maybe I’m biased because I own the Sumo/Blumo but I think the Sumo outside the Marine Master is Seiko best diver watch made .

hey Joseph thanks for the comment and great point, i agree about the Sumo... Im very disappointed in my SBDC061 because of this known issue that was basically not QC'd and sold. I did contact seiko and they said they would repair it if i can prove i purchased from amazon directly which i think i can... The Blumo is especially a good value over all SBDCs however especially the SBDC065 which is calling for a premium... Essentially the SBDC and Sumos are the same watch with both having some advantages over the other... Please like and subscribe !!!

Hey the spb083 is the same watch as the sbdc065 just Japanese serial number vs the serial number used for the rest of the world however they are 100% the same. And yes the watch has Diashield thanks for the comment please like and subscribe!!

PS. Seiko is throwing so many damn watches out there at every price point that they are really cannabalizing their sales. This was an $1100 watch a year ago and its a $660 now. I may be a buyer when it gets to $500. Seiko prices have a habit of collapsing for certain models.

Oh way too many models that blue alpinist pissed me off. Not because I don't like the watch but because they charged 550 or 600 and sold them out because they got the hodinkee crowd to suck them up. I'll take the green dial for 350 or whatever it goes for on the secondary market.

@@POLO8072 Feels like a 41 because you measure bezel tip to bezel tip and its something around 41mm, and that's why it wears and looks like a 41mm. Dial space is large though, because of the thin bezel width, so it wears like a large 41mm.
