I have the SBDC051 very similar to the 63, mainly do the crown placement, otherwise look very similar. Have it on the supplied rubber strap which is comfortable. Both seem amazing for what you get in the watch. I do slightly prefer the 51's crown placement but it would not have been a deal breaker. I also have the 63's cheaper sibling the SBDC069 which uses hardlex instead of sapphire. I did switch the band out (not a fan of seiko's bracelets) to a model specific Strapecode Jubilee style, makes the watch. If at the time when I ordered the 69, if I knew would probably have went with the 63. But it was also $180 cheaper. Still it's a good watch, and outside of the bezel and crystal, mechanically similar. Thanks for the review,. With all these similar numbers and size one can go crazy.

Michael it is an absolutely mine field with all the similar watch numbers. I can tell you the 063 wears smaller and narrower than the 069. They are both great watches for the price. Personally I love the hardlex crystal. So no worries with it. Enjoy them brother!

@@utewatchco1468 Seems the biggest difference is the sapphire case and bezel. Still I really like the 51. And you're right about the numbers, and honest mistake make's you look like a dunce. And you're right on the size wearing the 51 does seem to wear thinner. Many times I just wear my Alpinist, for some odd reason I love that watch, Feels like you're wearing nothing. Thanks for the reply. I do think people dog the hardlex more than they should. It's not far behind sapphire in hardness,

6R15 movement actually sounds grainy in your video. My SBDC051 also sounds grainy when winding, but that's really a common issue with the 4R35 and 6R15 series movements.

You know honestly I have never thought it was an issue. But yes I do agree it is pretty common. I even have a ETA 2824-2 that is like that.

You might be asking the wrong person since I bought the SBDX001 (4) times. I still think the MM is worth the cost. But the MM200 is a worthy alternative for sure.

I'm looking at a sla021 right now. Was the watch over all to big for you are was it to thick . Are both. I have a turtle an it's a big boy to but wearable to me 7in wrist

Everything is subjective. For me it was to talk and heavy. I've owned a Seiko Marinemaster four times and I have a 7 1/4 inch wrist. But like I said everybody has a different opinion. The sbdc063 is it better wearing watch.

I really do like the Marine Master, but damn........too expensive for what it is. I'll take an Oris Divers sixty-five with Calibre 733 over a Seiko 6R15 movement.

The 65 is a sweet watch. But it is also at a higher cost. I am not a huge fan of the 6r15 or the SW200-1. So I would not call it a upgrade in the movement department. At the cost of the Oris I personally believe the Monta Triumph is better buy. Yes I know it doesn't have history, etc. but it is a better finished watch. Thanks for the conversation.

Totally subjective for sure. This horse has been beat to death on every forum on the web. I personally like hardlex, and I do not think it is inferior. I have had more than one sapphire shatter. And I have had them scratch also. I have followed the forum-lore for years and one thing I can say is the myth that only diamonds can scratch a sapphire is not true. That is unless i live in a different world surrounded by diamonds all day.

@@BEM_01 Another reason is when sapphire is broken it shatters. It sucks have to clean a movement that is full of shards. But I honestly do not care if my watch comes with sapphire or hardlex. I buy a watch because I like it. If anything the crystal can be changed out most of the time.

The original hands on 053/063 are just ugly...main reason I've sold mine 053 and got the Sumo, just couldn't look at it. I really think that the Sumo does reminds me of the MM300 but with a much better price and the same mediocre movement as the 063.

The hands are not my favorite also. But this watch wears better than the Sumo for me. The Sumo sat to wide on my wrist, kind of like a ceramic Sub.
