My wife got me this for Christmas... I have a similar wrist size maybe a 6.8 and I really like smaller watches like skx 013... Here's the thing, there is something VERY appealing about this watch and it does make me laugh as well... if I only looked at pictures and read about the watch, it would look great but i still wouldn't like it.... but having it in your hand...you will like it too... surprisingly this watch is GREAT for smaller wrists 7 or smaller. Still trying to find the appeal... I think it's the bezel... the crappy bracelet i really love... it feels great or it doesn't feel like I have a watch on... I love the ratchety sounds... I've worn solid bracelets too...but the problem with solid bracelets is that it is harder to find one that feels good after 8 hour on.. this is my new beater watch and I am going to wear it until it breaks...once it does, I'll find $100 and buy a new one if I cant repair it... seiko...tried and true... the Camry of watches...

I have the black dial version and it's becoming one of my favs! the accuracy and power reserve are far above par. I picked up a miltat engineer link bracelet for it and now it's looking crispy AF! great vid kimosabe! love your channel. cheers!

LOL when are you NOT in a good mood? I bought this exact watch for about $150 and I still wear it once in a while. Funny because I probably get more compliments on this, than my other Seikos. My bezel alignment is pretty spot on, but I have noticed that the action on the bezel spring has gotten much looser over time, to the point where I can move it with one finger.

So good job! Second, I just bought a SNZH57. Yes, I know, the gold one, but it was really really hard to choose between the blue and the gold. Both great little watches, beautiful looking. And I must say, I wanted a SNZF15, the "pepsi" one, but after seeing this video and a couple more about these fifty five fathoms watches, I decide to buy one and I'm not regretting it. Hey man, love your reviews. Like you I am cursed with 6 1/2" wrists and just acquired a Seiko SKX013, which is a 36mm Diver, and it is awesome. It totally exceeded my expectations. I've seen most if not all of your vids and don't think I've seen you review it. Not sure if Seiko Divers are your thing, but this watch may be something to look into. Thanks for the great reviews!

I am getting similar accuracy with my SNZG13 that houses the 7S36 movement as well. Much more accurate then my skx007 or snk809.

Good review. I notice you get 41.2 mm on the case dia. Ive seen it being labelled a 42 mm watch ...could this be because you excluded the bezel as the bezel does seem to jut out a bit

Both, but seriously if you can wear a 41mm buy the skx007. The watch is a great and very tool. actually a iso certified diver✔️ but, if your more into glossy flashy look then buy the snzh53😁

It's called the Fifty Five Fathoms because that's its water resistance. 100m = 330 feet = 55 fathoms.

Great review. I'm thinking of getting this watch and am wondering how dark the blue is on it. Appears to be a deep navy blue. Can you confirm?

+PatrickDubbleYou yes it is a very deep navy blue. Under subdued light, it's not very noticable. In bright light and especially the sun, it's wonderfully blue.

+Bacchus Leto Well, that's hard to say. The SKX is definitely much more of a tool watch and is definitely tougher. I would have no fears of going diving with it (if I had to, that is). This SNZH is much more for going out about town than a do-it-all piece like an SKX. That being said, if I could only choose one of the two, I would choose this SNZH53 over an SKX but only by a very, very small margin. I think. :p

+Bacchus Leto I had only an SKX at first. I love it to pieces... But then I pined for the 53, Minit's beautiful, hilarious video tipped me over the edge and now I have both. The 53 is the shiny, pretty one you can go out with; maybe even use it as a dress watch substitute. The SKX is the rugged adventurer that you have for when stuff needs to happen. Together, they're pretty much the only 2 watches I really need... Of course, that isn't really how being a watch geek works.

I don't think Seiko regulates their entry level movements, relying more on high-precision manufacture to get close to ideal tolerances of parts. This leads to the manufacture of almost identical movements. This is just speculation on my part, based on observing the the regulator of every new Seiko I've had (I've had about 20) is always positioned right at the zero point. I think there are other ways to regulate & adjust a movement (based on rotating position of the hairspring & balance), but I think these are manual & time consuming and probably not practical to produce a sub $1K watch. Also, Seiko and other movement manufacturers (ETA, with all their silly grades) tend ot make a lot of noise about anything they do as far as hand-crafting or hand regulation of products. They very much emphasize all the attention lavished on their Grand Seiko line, for example. But I've never come across anything from Seiko that states they regulate entry level movements. Just my opinion, I could be wrong & would be curious what other people have to say about this.

+Karan That's a tough call. Both are really good. The Mako will have a better bracelet for sure, fits better on smaller wrists and has brighter lume. The Mako's movement might not be as accurate and it's definitely not as "glossy". Both will have the annoying bezel alignment issue, though. If I HAD to choose one, I'd choose this Seiko simply on the merit that it makes me happier even with the "lesser" bracelet. I hope this helps!

I noticed it when I first used this SNZH model without a hand-winding function. The shaking may be too strong, but if you shake it so that the reserve is charged a lot, the second hand will move forward.This is a phenomenon that can be seen in other watches. It might be better not to roll it full except for temaki.given the burden of caliber

It is currently being traded at around 70,000 to 100,000 yen ($500 to 700 dollars). If the watch is less than one million, the one that doesn't seem appropriate is a rough one, and I think it's the person who finds the value.I recently bought it for less than 30,000 yen.I really like it. Appearance is important.Caliber is a long and useful part, so it can be used for a long time, so I think it's good that it's strong. Compared to TISSOT GENTLEMAN, the texture feels very cheap, so I think my purchase price is appropriate in a way.I think some people didn't notice the cost performance and luck when they could buy it for $100. If GENTLEMAN is set to 10 (considering SEASTAR), the texture is less than half.But I think the personality and satisfaction level are comparable. It's vintage-like and very good!
