Just bought myself a tortoise made in Japan. Love its measurements and dial. The problem with the stuff stock strap is solvable, need to apply some force and bend the strap near to the place it is fixed to the lugs and it becomes quite comfortable.
@AndyinSG2 жыл бұрын
The strap issue can be also solved by going with aftermarket ones. Over all the Tortoise is just a great watch due to its size. Thinner profile is just wonderful and makes the watch so wearable.

@@AndyinSG definitely, although the strap itself looks quite nice. I wish Seiko made better straps in general.

I had the srpc91 as my first turtle but i sell it cuz it feel a bit larger than i want for my almost 7 inch wrist, but i miss it a lot. I would like tortoise a lot if it had clicking diver bezel i hate the fact its better size and they make it diver lookalike with compass bezel..... They should make turtle divers like this smaller size 42.5.
@AndyinSG3 жыл бұрын
It’s a pity they have made this a land/explorer type of watch. Having said that, not an issue for many fans because they don’t actually dive with it.

@@Visitor555 Gotta agree with you. A clicking bezel feels nicer. It’s unlikely Seiko will recycle this case with a dive bezel. So I guess the more costly Willard is your best bet.

Tortoise wins. Better date integration, wears smaller, is better made, and just has this wonderful quirkiness in person. Pop it on a better strap (mine is now on a chocolate brown seichu NATO) and it's a gem.

I just bought a Tortoise, and it will not arrive till after christmas. I am wondering if a fitted stainless bracelet from a Turtle will fit it. The light green dial just drew me in. edit: I see now the Tortoise has a 20mm band width where the Turtle is 22mm.

I hate that compass 🧭 bezel. It's bidirectional, but not really a compass? So what is it there for, and using it as a compass is gimmicky.

Yea, agreed. It’s more for looks i guess. A good-looking watch nonetheless. Great size too.
@f1hotrod5272 жыл бұрын
Tortoise is more unique and looks better. I just got the blue one. I got the made in Japan version and unfortunately there is some misalignment between dial and chapter ring. Other than that, the watch looks amazing. The shiny outline on the dial markers lights up like a disco ball when the light hits it. The colors are beautiful. The strap looks really nice but is stiff like others say. I don't really thing the strap is really uncomfortable. The strap being so stiff does make it difficult to put on and size, and even more difficult to take off. I love this watch so much that I have the green one coming.
@AndyinSG2 жыл бұрын
It’s great that you’re a Tortoise fan. I really think that there’s plenty of potential for this case size. Talking about it, I am long overdue for my first Tortoise. Should really get down to purchasing one myself.

@@AndyinSG I got mine from Mimo's jewelery in California. They are a Seiko authorized dealer. The tortoises from there are made in Japan. When you use the discount code you get the tortoise for $400 or $405 ish. They shipped me the watch and everything was on the up and up. They even filled out the warrantee card.

Tortoise is slicker and slightly more wearable. I could imagine if you really need a timing bezel, that could be the difference for you. But then there are so many other divers I'd buy before I got the turtle. FWIW, I have owned the tortoise for only about a month and I have already actuslly used the compass bezel in my everyday life... actually it was more effective than using the smartphone, I found. I have a good sense of direction and maps, though. Tortoise for sure! 😀 Much sexier when you see 'em in person, IMO.
