A true germaphobe will not be grabbing the hand _after_ the chip has been dipped twice. Rather, he will prevent the second dip from happening. Timmy should have blocked George from double-dipping. In fact, Timmy should have prevented George from doing the first dip because George he touched a part that he put into the dip. I know a former coworker who would go up to a bowl of chocolate-covered blueberries, and run his fingers through the whole pile a couple of times (like he was mixing up the pieces) before picking up several pieces to eat. From that point on, I kept my desk treats sealed in their original containers and only poured out a few pieces on a napkin. That way, if he handled the pile, I'd tell him to take it all, or throw away the ones he didn't want to eat. Sadly, he never got the hint. :-(

Well, attempting to break the chip in half sometimes causes the chip to shatter into many small pieces, so when you put a small piece into the dip, your finger may end up touching the dip. That's an accidental way of directly tainting the dip. Also, some folks put their fingers all over their chips before dipping one of them in. That means their fingers had touched parts of the chip that went into the dip. Most people's fingers aren't very clean. The safer way to deal with dip is to have people use a dedicated spoon to scoop up dip to put onto their plate of chips.
