George is supposedly the master of getting fired but only Kramer got fired from a job he didn't have.

What’s more funny about it is how George is always trying to weasel his way out of doing work and Kramer insists on working harder just to keep his job he doesn’t have.

Waay back in the 80s we had a group of casual workers who came in at night to sort printed reports and package them for distribution to the companies that paid us to do their payroll processing. They were a close-knit group and I'm convinced that some of them got the gig simply by turning up and working alongside their mates for a shift or two - no-one particularly cared as long as the job got done on time. To be fair, word of mouth went a long way in that company and HR was a shadow of the monster it was to become by the turn of the century. Kramer wouldn't even get in the building in 2023 ;)

Not quite the same, but an engineer friend of mine told me of a story where a guy was fired but kept showing up for work to finish a project literally no one else was working on anymore because he put so much of his heart and soul on the task. He ended up getting paid for the job by going to a different higher-up and saying "___ never paid me for my job." It stuck with me for years.
