A bit like Elaine joking that she’d never eat at the restaurant again, several years ago some friends and I were at a Pizza Hut. When our pizza arrived, it was slightly burnt but not nearly enough to complain about it. But I said to the waitress, quite jokingly, “I demand to speak to the manager!” She walked off as we all laughed and began to eat. A moment later, the manager actually came to our table, thought I was angry and was vey apologetic. I tried to explain that I was merely kidding. She offered us a few dollars off of our pizza, which we accepted. But to this day, I wonder if both she and the waitress remember me as the hotheaded jerk who raised hell over a slightly overdone pizza.
